As I said in the other thread, there's 2 probable options.

1. They're new weapons for the character creation screen to go with the new armor.

2. They're items we can create for transmog at the Thunderforge.

And a bonus someone else mentioned that could be possible,

3. They're rewards for new 5-man challenges coming in 5.3 or 5.4.

If we ever got Demon Hunter added, we could see more glaives. They'd be considered 1h swords or polearms, though, to prevent inflating weapon types.
