Can't update or uninstall MSI Afterburner.

    Hi,

I'm having abit of trouble updating to the latest version of MSI afterburner as everytime I try to install the latest version I get this message.

I also get the same error message if I try to uninstall my current version.

I need to update for the changes they've made to some of the video recording stuff, so any help would be great.

Looks like It might be running in the background. On your task bar there shouldbe a small icon next to the clock.

Looks sort of like this, only smaller and no green.

If it isn't beside the clock then clik the little white triangle beside the clock. It opens a small notifications box that will have small icons of some programs running the background.
Right click on the MSI-Afterburner icon and click the "Exit" option.

If you can't find the icon, then open task manager, find the MSI-Afterburner process and end process.

It's not on the task bar or in my task manager/processes but I still get the same error.

I don't know why I didn't think of this before... (I don't use MSI btw, sorry.) But do you have any other RTSS based application currently running in the background? Such as EVGA's Precision tool or RivaTuner?
Try closing out nonessential background applications until you have none running. After that try installing the update.
Also if you spot Rtss.exe in the process list on Task-manager, then end its process.
