    Lightbulb Cant figure this out

So my gf's screen will go black from time to time but only when shes on the net. This does not happen when shes playing games. When it happens the screen goes black and the comp will stay on but freeze. Now its a newer build and everything is up to date.

Check temps? Test RAM? What are the specs? Check power cables and video card seated properly?

What kind of GPU does she have?
I know AMD had some issues with the 57xx series that they would have a bit too low voltage in 2D mode which could cause crashes like this.
    Intel i5-3570K @ 4.7GHz | MSI Z77 Mpower | Noctua NH-D14 | Corsair Vengeance LP White 1.35V 8GB 1600MHz
    Gigabyte GTX 670 OC Windforce 3X @ 1372/7604MHz | Corsair Force GT 120GB | Silverstone Fortress FT02 | Corsair VX450

well she has the 7770 and i have checked all cables and cords and everything is seated properly. This only happens when she is surfing the net. does not happen in games.

I used to have a problem where 1 monitor would freeze when playing YouTube videos, does it happen always during the same action or is it random? Try dual monitor and see if that screen also goes black.

I think a clearer understanding of exactly what you mean by the above may actually help.

ok so what happens is the screen goes black. The lites on her keyboard mouse and tower stay on and the sound still goes on for a couple of seconds then the sound freezes and the comp remains on till she restarts

ok so when she surfs the net her core temps are jumping to right around 85 c

i think its over heating now cause mine sits below 41 c while having 2 games running and 7 web pages open

Yeah 76c is very high for idling.

Don't know why it only crashes in light load though, gaming should put more pressure on the CPU and make it even warmer.

    O_o

Yeah that's a heating issue. Make sure fans are spinning. It may be a case of needing to reseat the heatsink. You'll need more goo.

Being a factory cooler isn't the problem. I have a retail cooler (i5-3570K) and my system under gaming and whatever never breaks 55c. Heck, it didn't break 70c when I overclocked it to 4.0ghz on the retail cooler. It probably just needs reseating (or is damaged)

85C is way too hot for a stock chip even on full load. Like chaz said though it might be a good idea to reseat the heatsink with some fresh thermal paste.

well i put some arctic silver 5 on it and spreaded it with a card and resteatd the cpu cooler for some reason it did not want to stay on the cpu snugly so that might of been why but all of her cores are under 30 c just net browsing.
