Can't seem to win and need it for the Wrathion quest.
I'm guessing only tactic is play until I get a good group and win? lol

That's my favorite.
So this is how you win: if you're overwhelmed by the horde (enemy!) on a cart, leave and go for a cart that is less defended (or empty). Fight on carts. Don't fight on paths. Do everything you can to pull or push people outside of the cart's boundries.
If your cart is nearing the end, you don't have to sit with it forever. Get back to mid to pick up a new cart. Support your fellows...this is not a "I will do it alone!" kind of battleground. Pick enemies off of other people. The more people alive, the longer the cart stays on your side.
Switch tracks (click on the arrows) to speed up returns or to slow the other side to give you more time to get control.
This is the one BG where CC is king. Killing is not essentially the goal, CCing targets outside of a controlled cart is. I've lost so many RBG Silvershard Mines matches and never died, just got CC'd to all hell.
I wish some Alliance people in the EU would read this. I've still only got one victory in there. People seem to be afraid of standing inside the big circles on the ground.
It's just perception. We lost our first one last night to the vile horde who had a 4-hunter team that controlled and decimated 5 or 6 of us at a time, but our next one we won 1600 to like 300 because they wouldn't fight us on the carts. Hell, the second one was so boring 'cause I turned in 3 carts, alone.
It's the same crap as with flags getting capped, then you look at the map and see 6 of your guys at that said flag yet none of them thought of protecting it from being capped, or worse yet just mincing off and fighting at the paths. For some reason it's unbelievably hard for some people to grasp the objectives of battlegrounds.
I've only one once in Silvershard Mines as an Alliance. It's brutal.
This is how it always seems to work:
-Gates open; horde gain control of all carts.
-Alliance being so butt hurt over this attempt to kill the horde while being kited away from the carts
-Rest of the Horde are staying with carts and defending from any Alliance that decided not to fight in the middle of no where
-Horde cap 3/4 carts
-Repeat steps 1-4 and wait for 5mins while until Horde win.
This is essentially what the Alliance seem to do every single time I enter this battleground.
Roll Horde.
If that is no option make a 5 man premade, only chance you might have as Alliance to actually win. The only times I ever lost Silvershard mine was when we had like 7-8 bots as Horde.
horde generally get lava cart faster then alliance can ( admittedly this is unrated, i've never seen it in rated) alliance needs to get the water cart, which is quite far along , and will cap faster then the lava cart once controlled, and and the middle cart which will usually spawn about a minute into the game. mostly horde will send their entire force to secure the lava cart, leaving only one or two people to get the center cart.

Horde will always get to both middle and lava cart faster then the Horde can. It's one of the reasons why Horde is dominating this so badly. Lava cart is the equivalent to water cart, just that water cart has an nearly thrice as long way before it caps thus putting the Alliance at a big disadvantage in this BG.
The middle cart is also closer to us being right next to us and thus favors the Horde as in rated BG you will reach it faster and in unrated the Alliance has to pass the zerg to reach it while for the Horde the zerg is right in front of their spawn.
In all honesty Silvershard is by a gross margin the most inbalanced map in the entire game. And seeing Silvershard in RBG always makes me pray we don't end up as Alliance.

wat
isn't that what i just said? go get the water cart and try to zerg the middle cart down.
i like silvershard mines, i play alliance currently, if it is unbalanced towards horde its certainly time for one after gilneas, av and ioc

Controlling mid helps, more so for lava though being the shortest trip. If you get the cap on the cart first its much easier to hold than to take it from them.
As for the unfair advantage, I'm pretty sure they tried to randomize it. Sometimes the cart is too close to the capture point for any team to take it but I still see it favuor the horde more often than not.
Also there should always be at least 1 or 2 staying with the cart to call incs.. too many times I've seen people run off and Horde capture it at the last second.
Best tip, always protect a cart till it's capped. I've seen a countless amount of carts being ninjacapped in the last few seconds by stealthers.
Or in case you are a stealther yourself, go ninjacap unprotected carts on the last moment.
In rbgs what we do is zerg which ever cart is going to cap first and move on, sometimes we might split up if they both are capping at the same time.

Get some priests, aoe fear dimishing returns seems to really work in that BG.
