    Advice for buying 500w PSU

I need to replace my PSU, and I'm going to buy a 500w, sadly I'm not overly clued up on what makes a good PSU.

Is there any reason it would be worth spending the extra money on http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Buil...8738623&sr=8-3 vs http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Maste...8738623&sr=8-1

    Thanks for any help.

Well if you look at the product features it is clear one is better than the other, but really the only thing that makes a bad PSU (imo) is not getting the correct wattage you wanted out of it or overheating, neither of which you tend to really get with any decent company (again imo).

What are your system specs? You might be better off getting an Antec VP-450

Most foolproof way to buy a decent PSU: recommended PSU list.

Whats your system? You might not even need 500W.

    Basic specs are:

    i5 3470
    nvidia 550ti
    8gb Ram

Anymore info I should be including?

Yeah, that system barely breaks 250w, so the antec VP-450 is fine. You really can't go much more cheaper than $30 on a power supply without compromising quality, so you're fine on 450

Assuming UK because of your link?

In that case this is the best you can get and still being cheap:

    XFX ProSeries 450W £37
