Kendrick Lamar is pretty good.
Obstacles? Like what? Living the hard-knock Harvard life? American society has evolved to the point where black men/women are capable of moving up the ladder (not saying racism doesn't exist, that's just silly).
A lot of celebrities have a track record of being democrat, Jay-Z pretty much went against his own 'belief' of the word politics by directly involving himself in the last election.
OT: Please, explain to me what obstacles, exactly? Believe it or not, there are a lot of racist people that voted for him (either due to political alignment or even wanting to see him get shot).
Not just drugs. You have to change everything about who you are, your personality, your clothing, your mannerisms, your voice and become a different person who does this or that a certain way to become famous. You have to forgo advancing as a human being normally and grow up influenced completely by media, songs or whatever, and let them shape you.
This example would be rap. He isn't a normal human being, he was influenced by rap and took on a rap personality, giving up any chance he had at acting like a grown fucking man with a mind of his own, influenced by himself. Now, he's b spitin tite rymz son and wearing sunglasses despite the time of day, all in the name of his 'rap game'.
Let him, though, it's his life. If, like most famous people, he wants to get rich by dancing about for the amusement of people too stupid to see through the fog that is a musically generated clique, it's his right to do so. Someone has to be the puppet.
things like social stigma, racism, lack of opportunities, lack of encouragement, all because of said stigmas, etc all add up.
Kennedy was also a big deal for being the first catholic president because of similar public perceptions that they "werent suitable."
cant believe people are arguing that political minorities arent so, but oh well.
No....just no...
There are plenty of poor people that turn their lives around and become successful.
The American Dream died in the 30s.
Huge difference in selling drugs and using drugs. Yeah she could of stolen quite a bit of shit to fill her habit, and I would still judge her accordingly, but you're flipping missing the point about a man who sold drugs, that flat out messed up several lives in the process. I have zero respect for that person, regardless of what he/she is now. Let alone he is a hiphop star... and don't get me started on that absolute crap genre.
This is coming from someone who did the same shit in his past, and I'm well, not rich now, but I've been in JayZ's shoe.. as far as selling drugs. Its something I will never forgive myself for.
So I flat out don't blame anyone that hates on drug dealers.
Well theres reasons theres drugs 'classification' I guess - turning your attic into a growroom and selling a bar of weed to net you about £1500 a month harms very few people except for the buyers (arguably), and would you not agree is a 'lesser crime' than stealing money to buy food? Its all about where you draw the line, and as far as drugs are concerned the line is put there by law makers, who determine narcotic 'x' as damaging to society, but allows narcotic 'y' to be sold... you know where I'm going.
I'm unemployed brah, being online at 04:14 is fine :P
What the fuck were you selling and how were you selling it?? Agressive marketing is pretty unethical, but do you not think most people get into drugs through peers rather than dealers? Hate on the smugglers, the 'big bosses', and so forth, but the people on the bottom rung of the ladder aren't the cause of the problem they're just a symptom and most are just "performing a service". Most customers go to the dealer, yes?
