I know this isn't the place to ask about cars...

but I'm just looking for any advice that I can get. I'm looking into buying an (old) used european car, but I'm stuck.

I know Jaguar's aren't known for their reliability, but there are a few options in the 2003 series S types (around 120,000+ miles)

I'm really just wondering if anyone has some information on their past experiences with Jag's. Did it break down every 3 months?

I've also been looking into some Mercedes E430's... any info on that?

    Thanks.

Buying an old luxury car that's not a classic is just a terrible, terrible idea. Maintenance costs are high, and the cars aren't particularly nice relative to their newer counterparts.

Expect any repair to cost 2-3 times what it would normally cost, and not everywhere even works on those.
Also all the fancy features like to stop working.

I only known one person who had a Jag, he left the keys in it all the time hoping it would be stolen

If your looking to buy a an old Euro car, I would go with something well supported and popular. BMW and or Mercedes before you plunk down your money, find a german specialist 1st and get all your questions answered in terms of reliability, cost of maintenance, and rules to ownership. Good Luck I see a 93-95 3 series in your very near future oh and try to keep it standard shift, for the sake of maintenance.

Lmao, thats funny. I knew a guy in highschool who had a shitty beat up truck and we went to burger king or something and left the keys in the ignition. Im like, what if somebody takes your car? He pretty much said thats what he hopes happens so insurance will buy him a better truck. God bless America.
