Whats the point of them anyway? They don't make any sense and are ugly...

Bullshite! They make things pop and look 3d, for me it made reexploring every zone in WOW with MOP's patch a complete joy along with the new lighting effect. It gives it a pop up book cut out effect that makes it look more stylized, and in places like the ice canyon in Dragonblight where you fight alongside Thrall in the 4.3 heroic, it gives definition and shadow to every single bounder and edge on the canyon and makes it look like someone shaded it by hand almost.

It's a really cool effect actually when you're not taking it as painfully literal as you can as if it's meant to look real. WOW is supposed to look like a Pixar cartoon, not Skyrim.

I turned it on, and didn't notice a single difference except the FPS drop.
Worthless feature is worthless. Meanwhile, I still don't have a slider for Voice volume only...

It made a drastic difference for me I didn't get used to for over a month. Now I miss the way it made everything look new. Maybe you just aren't very observant. Or maybe I'm more concerned with visuals than you are. But it's hardly worthless.
