Yeah I had a Vertex 2 for about a week, then learned I needed to buy a new Windows key. >_< So I returned it. Glad I did, ended up getting the Crucial m4 128GB about 2-3 months later.

    When I got my m4, the Samsung 830 wasn't even available, I don't think.

Honestly, when I next buy an SSD, it will either come from Crucial or Samsung.

Problem has been with the game since its inception, if it is to be called a 'problem,' and not just an unfortunate thing. I doubt they have any plans to fix it, because I bet it would have been by now.

Yes they know, and pretty much said something in the gist of "Deal with it :shades:"

I still do wonder though why Diablo 3 has such a large install folder...

I mean, Rift is absolutely gigantic in comparison to Diablo 3, and it's a smaller install file (Storm Legion may have changed this, but Rift before 2.0 was only about 9-10GB...)

Well I just took a look in my Diablo folder and there was something like 4,3GB of Cache files I could remove.

After that you have 2.2GB of sound files, 1.4GB of cutscenes and 1.5GB of textures.

Okay so my Diablo 3 folder is starting at 11.8GB.

    Cache is indeed 4.02GB.

I guess the question is how fast would that cache fill back up if one were to play again.

I'm not finding out, as it is on one of my extra HDDs and I haven't played in months, Path of Exile wins. :P

Actually, it seems that some of the lag issues are also coming from the WoW lag issues and the Chicago server cluster (depending on who you are routed through)

But your specific problem, sadly, is probably the HDD.

Yup, I've tried everything to get d3 to run smooth and nothing. I keep telling myself to send back the 660ti and get the 7950 as if that is the problem. Just need to order an SSD and fix the problem.

Weird.. my D3 runs perfectly fine from a run of the mill, mid range HDD.

what are your settings? of course I have done everything from messing with the d3prefs file and everything.. Like I said all other games run fine, but Diablo 3. I even tried Crysis and what do you know, nothing dropped below 60fps. While the frames do not drop in D3, it is very laggy. Latency is not an issue for me either.

I run it with everything maxed on 1080p.

Your frames don't drop but you get jumpy lag? Only other place I have seen that is when I'm recording on fraps and forget to clear out the recordings I don't need - my HDD filling up causes games running on it to become laggy, but without an fps drop. Not limited to D3 though.

its like jittering and super lag when I join a new zone when farming a3 a2 a1 ect. Don't get it. May send card back and get 7950 or just get ssd and see if that helps. Very frustrating

Do you have an external? Or a seperate HDD? Try putting D3 on a drive of it's own and see what happens, if that fails your best bet is the SSD, I HIGHLY doubt your 660 Ti is causing the problem. D3 even ran smoothly at max settings on my old 550 Ti.

Also, download Advanced System Care and give that a spin, see if there are any problems in your HDD it can clean up.
