Because once in a while you see a thread which is not the usual dating problem etc. but involves family, finance etc for that person. or they have/had an opportunity and want to talk about it.

As for the wide variation of things to discuss: true but the same topics are being discussed a lot of the times, so that is a moot point.

You're not getting the point of the post. You pretty much are complaining why there's nothing else to discuss, WHILE listing down every possible topic that could ever be discussed, or at least most of them. You have in there: politics, relationships, war, "any general problem" (honestly you should've realized this on your own by the time you typed down this), science for Christ's sake, news (?????), the paranormal and so on and so on. What else do you want? You've listed down such general headings that most things could be added under any of them. The only thing I can think is missing is philosophy, but that could fall under politics or science or "any general problem" depending on the way it's presented.

- Political threads (they are okay)
- Gun threads ( stop those, people will never change the mind of somebody else with a different opinion on matters like this)
- News threads (again, okay)
- Ocassional funny news thread (more than welcome)
- Science related threads (totally fine and okay)
- Do you believe in ghosts threads
- Food threads (more than welcome!)
- Dilemmas, trilemmas and general problem threads
- Tipping threads
- Zombie/end of the world threads
- Obesity/fat people threads
- War threads

And last but not least our dear old friend:

- Relationship/dating/crush threads


I think some of these threads should be reduced honestly, some topics have been discussed to death and nobody is getting anywhere! (I am looking at you, gun threads)o

Most things people are interested in fit into those threads. Do you have an idea for a topic or 2 that doesnt fit into any of your thread categories?

I think he means that while there are different points that could be discussed on those topics we only see people bring up the same points. I mean you can hijack a thread from the original post and turn it into something different but it takes at least four posters to do that.

Because I like listing things. You may find me stupid, dumb or uncaring for that, but the truth is I don't think before posting something unnecessary, maybe it is in conflict with your sense of what is necessary but yeah, that is what it comes down to.

It's really nothing more than a rant about gun threads, because otherwise there's really no reason to list down a list of threads that you enjoy and think are okay for the forum.

Yeah, that is what it originally stemmed from, was sick of those gun threads, the rest came in the list while I was writing but I just like to make a list like that.

I disagree with you OP, I enjoy the full spectrum of threads on here, and have had my opinion on several sensitive topics changed before.

We have, believe it or not, a fairly intellectual (if not diverse) community on here.

While some topics might have reached a point where nothing new can be said, I've noticed this incredible ability of many users to spark a variation of the main thread and go from there.. even in threads I've personally made..

Anyway, I personally believe that people can make a thread about whatever they want. But I've never understood relationship threads. Those threads never EVER ask for advice; the person says what he wants to say, and wants other people to agree what he thinks.

Believe it or not, mmo-champion forums used to be about WoW! The uprising of off-topic has overall been a good thing. Besides, I don't really think there's a way to stop these threads unless it's just an insta-lock, which seems a bit harsh.

I think if there was a relationship sub-forum (Like the computer build forum is a sub-forum of the computer forum, the relationship forum would be a sub-forum of the general off-topic forum, then we could get rid of those threads out of gen off-topic, and back to threads where actual discussion takes place.
