Older unit, but it's compatible with the 1155 socket and cools very well. Also pretty inexpensive at $52.

I personally have this on my old e6850 and it idles at ambient and won't go above 40C.

And you just can't compete with the looks.
I actually almost got that, but then I managed to get Micro Center to give me the 9900 ALED for no added cost because the guy noticed the box for the 9700 looked pretty ratty. Not at all bad, I daresay! I do love the 9900 ALED, though, the colors and all just are very... subtle and cool. Also it's *fairly* quiet, especially for having a 92mm fan.

No, the 9700 is the 110mm. You're thinking the 9500, which is the 92mm.

And the fins-all-around design of the 9700 is actually slightly superior (both in temps and noise) to the fore-and-aft design of the 9900, despite the larger fan on the latter.

Looks like you got your 9500 and 9700 mixed up with 9700 and 9900. :P

Yes it turns out the 9900 actually has a 120mm* fan, I guess I'm just used to all of the 200s and 230mm fans in my case.

The minor change in temps doesn't phase me though, cold basement. Should just take the heatsink off and let the air cool it. (i5-2500K@4.6GHz 1.42v)
