Which heatsink would you recommend for i5 3570k?

Hey guys.

Thread title says it all. Which do you recommend?

I'm leaning away from liquid cooling systems so please only recommend air cooling.

I'm looking for something under $100 preferably as cheap as I can go. I probably wont OC and even if I do it'll only be for a little. What's the best bang-for-the-buck you can recommend?

What specifications should I be looking for when searching for a fan?
What do you guys think of the Noctua-DH14? Or the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO?

Hyper 212 Evo then. Noctua does provide better cooling results but for nearly 3x the cost of the Evo. I believe it lets you OC a little higher than an Evo would but you don't plan to OC much (I'm guessing to 4.0-4.2)

Hyper 212 Evo is the best bang for your buck aftermarket air cooler. You won't go wrong with it.

If he only planned to OC to 4.0-4.2, I'd say to not even get an aftermarket cooler.

The Hyper 212 Evo is fine, but if you want real cooling, you're best with something from Noctua, ThermalRight, or Corsair.

On the lower end of the budget the Xigmatek GAIA $30 is excellent ~4.2GHz won't be a problem beyond that I would recommend any of these (there are quite a few decent ones besides those though):

Noctua NH-C14 $73
Noctua NH-D14 $81

Phanteks PH-TC14PE $85 little more expensive but I like the color options (white, blue, red etc.) and it performs really well.

Thermalright Silver Arrow $70
NZXT HAVIK 140 $75

Middle of the road options:

Noctua NH-U12P SE2 $60

I've used Xigmatek as a cheap but effective cooler in a few builds.

Check out the Loki or Gaia model. Both under $30.

I picked up the Corsair H55 for my i5. I have had the cooler for about 2 weeks now and absolutely love it. I got rid of my 212 due to my heat sinks (on my memory) being in the way of the fan, of course I could have modded and worked around this issue, but did not want to. I recommend the H55 from corsair, easy install, quite and effective.

Noctua NH-C14 $73

This heatsink right here is simply amazing what it can do. I have two of them in two different machines, I was able to get a 2500k up to 4.8GHz (was running 1.31v) stable with a Prime95 Torture test maxing out at 69C on hotest core.

Rocking on a Noctua NH-D14 ....yes it is a big hefty clump but my god it cools well and is very very quiet too

If your not going to oc your proc then I would just stick to the stock cooler, and put that money into a serious case for cooling like the antec 900 series. Your box will get hot b/c of your v.card which will cook everything regardless of the baller cooler you have on your proc if your box can't breath. If you've got a good case then you've done all you need to do and kudos!

Couldn't you just technically use some better thermal paste and give it a 10% or so job? I'm honestly asking, I really have no idea.

Maybe even 20%... makes me wonder just how much of a difference it would actually make.

Older unit, but it's compatible with the 1155 socket and cools very well. Also pretty inexpensive at $52.

I personally have this on my old e6850 and it idles at ambient and won't go above 40C.

And you just can't compete with the looks.
