I know it's horrible and all that, but the only thing I can imagine is flood waters full of giant poisonous spiders floating along the surface...

Nah, they'll all bunch up in a giant net and wait for anyone that happens to walk by and just drop down on them:P

OT: Really sucks this, gotta love the weather here.

I think the big issue is the Live stock in the flood waters... Theres a piggery (? spelling ) further up river that lost over 1000 pigs all alive at the time the water came through and most if not all went for a swim =(

I thought that when there was flooding in Australia, there was supposed to be a landscape covered in spider webs as the little demons climb into the trees to escape the water.
“…the whole trouble lies here. In words, words. Each one of us has within him a whole world of things, each man of us his own special world. And how can we ever come to an understanding if I put in the words I utter the sense and value of things as I see them; while you who listen to me must inevitably translate them according to the conception of things each one of you has within himself. We think we understand each other, but we never really do.”
    XKCD is always relevant. Always.

Why don't you get some big pumps and long hoses, and pump the flooding waters towards the part of your country that is on fire? :P

Yes, they would have to be very long hoses.

If it makes you feel better, nobody has died from a spider bite in all of Australia since 1979. Not one person.

Spiders just really aren't that deadly.

I was in Brisbane not two weeks ago, and my boyfriend is still there (our home is right in a flood zone). I guess this is the year the north gets flooded and the south gets burned.
