    What would a Red Crane Monk be called?

    I need your help my Monk brethren;

    I want to theorycraft a Red Crane Monk spec, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what to call them. Windwalkers are White Tigers, Mistweavers are Jade Serpents, and Brewmasters are Black Oxes.

    Here are some sample abilities that I'm using for the theorycraft that I pulled from Wowhead;

    Chi Blast:

    40 yd range
    1 sec cast 5 sec cooldown
    Blasts an enemy with chi, inflicting Nature damage.

    http://www.wowhead.com/spell=126644

    Chi Form:

    Instant cast
    Transcends the mortal realm, gaining new powers and abilities.

    http://www.wowhead.com/spell=98405

    Invoke Chi-Ji, the Red Crane

    Instant 3 min cooldown
    Requires level 49
    Invokes the Red Crane Celestial, summoning an effigy at the command of the caster. While active, Chi-Ji will increase the mastery of all party and raid members by 20% for 45 sec.

    http://www.wowhead.com/spell=132013

    Death Cocoon
    2 Chi 40 yd range
    Channeled 2 min cooldown

    Reverse version of Life Cocoon.

    http://www.wowhead.com/spell=121710/death-cocoon

    Rolling Force Globe
    40 yd range
    1 Chi
    2 min cooldown
    Instant cast

    You summon a globe of Chi energy, dealing damage and healing all targets within its path within 40 yards.

    While it's traveling, you can discharge the Globe, dealing x damage/healing to all targets at its current location and reducing/increasing all targets movement speed by 70% for 3 sec, but cancelling the Sphere.

    Thinking of Red Crane Monks to be using more Chi-based energy attacks. They would wear INT leather, and combine melee with ranged attacks. Sort of like how mistweavers work, but with offensive spells instead of healing spells. I'm imagining a real flashy spec like the energy attacks from the Street Fighter series.

    So I got the basic idea. Just need a name for the spec. :-/

    TDLR: What could the name of the Red Crane Monk spec be?

    Thanks for your help. Hope I get some responses. :-)

    Slight nitpick - if there were to be one archetype for each of the Celestials then Mistweavers should technically be lumped with Chi'ji while a caster monk would invoke Yu'lon. I'm not sure why Mistweavers are using Serpent styles rather than Crane in-game, as it's contradictory to all other in-game monk lore.

    Anyways.

    Just for the sake of me liking coming up with names, I would call an offensive caster monk a Stormsage.

    I'm not certain of that. from what we've seen, yu'lon is all about youth (her humanoid disguise is a little girl) and life energy (the whole deal about transferring her life energy to the statue and remake herself younger).

    chi'ji is the crane of hope, and while he does appear to be sort of healerish, he also has his disciples fighting in his cradle.

    if it were up to me, I'd do this:

    serpent stance - normal healing;
    crane stance - melee healing (fistweaving);

    Firdancer or Cranedancer.

    I submit they would be an agi bow wielding ranged class.

    Lore basis: During a quest for the August Celestials in the Red Crane temple daily set, they mention that crane feathers are highly valuable as fletching.

    Ranged agi leather bow wielding fire-and-physical based DPS.

    You mean I have room for text now?

    i wanted to say something else also but it wouldn't be fair limiting a spec, to a gender.

    well Zuen values strength (melee dps)

    Yu'lon values serenity/cycle of life etc (healer)

    and Niuzao values tenacity (tank)

    so find out what Chi-ji values and vio-la!

    i think it'd probably be a caster tho (Chi-ji, so lots of chi based stuff)

    Each monk spec correlates with the item or element they use. Mistweavers manipulate mist, Brewmasters use brew, Windwalkers ...are swift as the wind I guess. /shrug

    A caster spec monk would maybe utilize the "dark chi" that was on the beta very early on. A master of the darker, more forbidden forms of martial arts? Tying it in to Chi-Ji would be easy: who knows more of hope than those who venture into darkness? Since they use dark chi, maybe Shadowweavers or something along the line would be appropriate?

    Chi-Ji is the Celestial of Hope, fighting off the Sha of Despair in the Krasarang Wilds.

    My guess would be that he would either share some sort of connection to healing of Yu'lon or just be an archer-type of Celestial. BUT, we don't see any archers whatsoever among students of Chi-ji during the Red Crane dailies of the August Celestials, but we do see a lot of holy-themed casters and warriors.

    Just my thought.

    it's not restricting though. if anything, it would help people who use simple keybinds or clickers. put your normal heals on the serpent stance action bar and your attacks on the crane stance action bar.

    Zenresider

    I know it's a cheesy name but it has a meaning just like the other 3 specs and since you mentioned a monk with more "Chi-Based attacks" I thought that Zen would be an adequate term.

    Also, I don't know if anyone considered the option of a INT leather bow wielding character? It would be so awesome firing chi empowered arrows

    Windwalker.

    Yeah, I know. But the the more I think about a forth spec for monk, the more I think that Windwalker should be tied to the crane.

    Xuen is all about strenght, proving to be the best. But crane is about pure combat and perpetual training (just watch the crane temple, it's the only one with direct "friendly" agressive monks).

    Imo windwalker should be tied to the crane. And the forth spec should could be tied to the Tiger. Delete the crackling jade minor glyph and give the blueish one (improved) to the new spec with of course other blue energy-jade-like spells.

    And even without a forth spec, invoc Xuen should be changed with "invoc Celestial" providing the celestial of your spec (tired by the tiger while BrMing)

    Crane Operator?

    seriously though, I'd say Lightning Dancer.

    Thanks guys. You gave some awesome suggestions. I think I'm going to use Breaker or Dancer for the second part of the name. I'm kind of leaning towards Cloudbreaker for the name, since Cloud Dancer sounds like something from My Little Pony, and cloud are synonymous with mists.

    Also since Chi-Ji represents hope, I felt that a Monk breaking through the clouds of darkness was pretty fitting.

    Anyway, please keep the suggestions coming. Thanks so much for your participation.

    Cranes have abilities to do with singing so maybe Chi Harmonizer or just Harmonizer.
