I really don't think we need more threads showing gun crimes. We already know there are a lot of gun crimes in the US.

Handgun crimes are something they refuse to acknowledge. Black on black crimes is another one they refuse to address.

It is a fact that the government supports the war on drugs which in turn creates this kind of violence. Most of which is uncovered because it is just more gang violence and therefore no big deal.

The assault weapons stuff is what they go after because it's low-hanging fruit. They know they can't successfully go after handguns, so they go after the scarier weapons, even though they aren't what's really causing the problems at the moment.
