    Recomendation for a headset

My old headset finally ripped (I have a random Sony one) on one of its earphone so now I have to get a new one.

-My budget is around 130 bucks.
-I listen to music here and there but no where near an "audiophile" since I don't even use a sound card.
-I play almost all genres but focus on FPS and MMO the most if this is any relevant.
-Will consider a headphone instead of a headset if it's worth it.

I'm currently trying out the g930 wireless headset (bought at a local store and will probably return it). It's been good so far but the auto turn off after ~10-20 minutes of no sound kinda irritates me, plus it's kinda flimsy.

I've tried a few brands over time. Started out with Logitech, then Plantronics, then Razer. All had decent sound quality but none of them really lasted more than a year to a year and a half. I'm currently using Corsair Vengeance 1500 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o02_s00_i00 and so far they seem pretty nice and well built.

Either the Asus ROG Vulcan or some variant of the Corsair's above would be my recommendation. I don't see a wireless requirement asked for. Both have good sized drivers and should sound decent. If you have money left over buy a decent headphone amp then you know you are getting the most out of them.

I've been using Siberias for years, I feel it's a good headset, really comfy and good sound quality. Durability is outstanding, they last a long time minus the one time my siblings destroyed one by accident. But I liked it so much that when I bought the replacement I also bought a second pair as backup, which I only just recently opened after a few years.

My friend has the siberia v2. It is quite comfortable and looks quite nice.

I'm gonna go around the local stores to check all the headset mentioned above out or order online and return if I don't like it. Thanks a lot so far guys, but more recommendations would be great!
BTW, what do you guys think about this?

I have owned the Sennheiser PC 350's for a year and I can't warn you off enough! They are not comfortable after about 20mins, that legendary Sennheiser sound quality is no where to be found.

My advice if its for a laptop get a headset with a USB sound card, if its for a desktop get a £20 ($35) soundcard like a Asus Xonar DX. oh and did I mention avoid Sennheiser for headsets!

What? That is by a large margin the most comfortable headset I've ever worn. The earcup shape immediately puts them in a different league than the majority of other headsets in my opinion. I think they're pretty great in terms of sound, too. Obviously they're gaming-oriented with closed earcups and the scooped lows, but I find those to be actually beneficial to a gaming headset, not just a lack of quality. The lack of bass will be a con for e.g. music, but the rest of the spectrum is actually pretty clear and balanced so it's really easy to just eq in a bit of low end.

I would recommend better headphones with a clip-on mic but if you want a headset.

Skullcandy Slyr $80 (review, ctrl+f search "Slyr")

    Headphones (which I'd recommend):

Audio Technica ATH-AD700 $100 (not bass heavy if you're looking for something like that)

Takstar HI 2050 $70 (from what I've gathered these are REALLY good considering the price tag, compare to ~$150+)

Combine with Zalman Zm-Mic1 $9 or maybe an AntLion ModMic $33

To add another to the list Notarget has posted above for headphones (and the ones I use):

    Grado SR80i - $99

The sound quality is quite good even without a soundcard or DAC, and after adding one of them...

I LOVE my Corsair V2000. They are wireless, which is amazing for me because I have cats that chew cables. They are closed, so they can have excellent bass. The cups are a soft memory foam covered in a long, soft velvet material so your head does not get too hot or sweat. The mic sounds excellent as well when I tested it through any playback. The headset is very solid feeling, and I have dropped them a few times with no broken parts.

Thank you so far guys. This is I have in mind after consideration:

    Headphone: Audio Technica ATH-AD700 $92.24 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...w_bottom_links
    Mic: Zalman Zm-Mic1 $8.95 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...w_bottom_links
Sound card: Asus Xonar DG $27 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...w_bottom_links
Total: $128.19 before tax. Shipping will be free since I have prime.

Also, is there any difference between a Asus Xonar DG vs a DGX one vs a DS?

    Asus Xonar DS: http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Xonar-Cha...ywords=asus+dg

I love my G930, and will probably buy another if this one ever dies. As an aside, it wont turn off if it's plugged in. (I know this because sometimes I sit at my desk with my speakers on for sound, but still need to use the mic from the headset)

Just in case you weren't aware

Why do people have to be so narrow minded on forums. That is my opinion. I could have a completely different shaped head or whatever and that is why they are uncomfortable for ME. The plasticy leatherette ear cups mean extended sessions result in a hot and sweaty head, a synthetic would breath better. The sound is awful for the price which is expensive £130 minimum in the UK. the ROG vulcans are infinitely better for half the price.

Yeah probably there are so many variants but to be honest the DG will do just fine
