Indeed. Wix.com, yola.com and zoha.com are sites I found with a quick google search. They seem decent enough for a basic, easy website. (I think yola is paid only)

Honestly? WSIWYG editors are the devil, honestly take a deeper look into online portfolio solutions. Krop is somewhat decent I hear, however my personal suggestion if you're wanting a professional outcome is to take a look on theme forest.

It'll set you back $40 but the results are worth it.

I use WP myself aswell, but if the man doesn't want to use it, that's his decision. Just throwing out options.

Thanks for the help everyone. Surprised I got any, to be honest. I can be a a dick when something frustrates me.

Still working stuff out, and I'm not sure if I completely understand yet, though.

    Edit:

Okay so. I want a website that has my own domain name, and that's basically a portfolio for audio and art work.

Go register a domain on go daddy
    Go find a good host
    Install wordpress onto the host
Make wordpress into something like this, if possible.

Should I do godaddy hosting as well?

Also, can you make the same site on wordpress.com as you can on the proper 'installed onto mysql' version?

Screwing around with this : http://ryanhoodtest.wordpress.com/ VERY bloggy.

Having it hosted on a different site gives you more options with CSS editing and such (I believe), but you should be able to do pretty much the same stuff with few limits.

If you want your site to have a different look, there is loads of different themes you can install. Here's a few free portfolio ones:

If you just search google, or the wordpress site itself, it should be easy enough to find something likable.

BlueHost is $7 per month for a 1-year contract, comes with a free domain name, and has 1-click wordpress install (you literally press 'add wordpress to my site' and it takes care of the whole install). they are my "go-to" webhost right now. I've had godaddy before and it's the absolute worst interface for trying to manage a website backend

Does it matter a great deal that bluehost doesn't seem to be for the UK? I can't register a .co.uk domain.

Edit: So apparently they don't do .co.uk, but the guy said I could register the domain name somewhere else and then continue. Is it a good idea to host with what I presume is an american site, then?

It's not ideal but pings between europe and the US aren't bad so a good service in the US may well perform better than a lesser good in EU. In the worst case, we're talking a hundred-or-so additional MS to connect to your site.

That + different customer support hours for you, I guess.

Oh, you might want to look into a UK host just because you can. I'd always get hosting from a company in the same country if I had the choice
