    Windows XP Reinstall/Activation help

My brother's harddrive died and he doesn't have his XP disc anymore. I'm trying to burn an XP installation disc and reinstall it using the product key stuck to the side of his tower but it's telling me the code is wrong.

I'm thinking now that there is a difference between a retail Windows XP installation disc and one that comes with a computer, If I were to burn an OEM disc, would the key work with it?

There is a difference between a Retail XP Disk and a n OEM disk, if you burn an OEM disk it should work with the code on the side of his computer

There are different versions of XP, Home, Pro and Enterprise, you have to have the right one then it will work.

Fun Fact: Windows 7 isn't free

Anyway, yeah. You need an OEM CD. If you need one, let me know.
