You know, I've done joint training exercises with guys from the Canadian air force. Cool dudes, really knew their stuff. But here's a fun fact about your great little country: They've willingly volunteered to participate in basically all off America's wars. Hell, we usually get about as much support from them as we do from the British, when you account for the difference in military sizes. So not only does Canada ally itself with America, they actively fight our wars with us! Your government thinks that we're a pretty good buddy to have around.

So how does that make you feel?

Rather saddened, as I am anytime people rush off to war and there is unrest in the world, someone's family will miss them, usually a lot of someone's families...and I don't give a toss who's side, it's just sort of sad no?
Who should know better then militar..oh wait, you're airforce, never seen close quarters infantry combat have you?
It's messy, us or them stuff, make you lose your lunch and question everything you know while you feel exilerated you are still alive. There are no athiests in foxholes, an argument against foxholes not athiesm.

Also, I dont think you get the scope of things...I am not some peaceloving hippy, I am no activist. I just don't agree with the way things are. I don't hate military personal, I understand what following orders is; do you always like everything you carry out for a mission?

I'm sorry if not sucking down the nation bashing as long as it's not against america makes me "batshit crazy" , that having my own set of beliefs really rattles you guys so badly...but the world is a big, big place, and there are lots of us on it who just don't prescribe to your views.

Let me break this down for you real quick. We are here, laughing at the silly North Korean video about it's "destiny to take down America". If you want to make a topic about the stupid things America does, or has done in the past, go ahead. As it is, this forum is very much filled with debate about just how shitty America is and some of the people in it are, and if you haven't seen it you don't seem to be paying attention. You're flat out delusional if you think this forum doesn't allow criticism of America.

But here's where it falls apart for you, and it crosses the line into nation bashing rather than criticizing: massive over-generalization and assumption that all Americans are 100% behind every action of their country, and insinuating that the country and it's people all think they should rule the world. At that point you step into utter delusion and denial. If you want to talk about America trying to make difference of opinions illegal, you are then forced to ignore history and reality entirely. Remember McCarthyism? Remember when being called a communist or socialist meant pretty much having your life torn down? We now have a president that is called a socialist (though he isn't), we have large portions of citizenry who support socialism and even communism, none of them are jailed or legally punished in any way for it. Large portions of American citizens have opposed pretty much every military operation we've ever taken. Plenty of people in our nation find our usage of chemical and nuclear weapons, and even our own government, to have been a horrible thing. There is no time machine to make it so we didn't do those things, the charities and aid you mock is the only thing we can do at this point.

You turn it into nation bashing instead of criticism by taking it to an extent that is utterly delusional and unreasonable, while actively insulting the citizens of the country.

Granted DC was probably just a random example, but if they're smart they'd fire it at Japan or Hawaii. Trying to hit mainland America gives us multiple hours to shoot it down. And against our countermeasures, that's basically an eternity.

And yeah, I'm sure China doesn't want NK fooling around with nuclear warheads. Even if they didn't hit China accidentally, American forces would be setting up shop over there that afternoon, and Beijing does not want to deal with that headache.

Are they really in a position to do anything to...anyone? Given how much flack the US takes for invading middle-eastern countries, North Korea might not be so eager to actually stir up trouble with countries we are friendly with. Otherwise, their leaders could end up out of a job.

Well think of it like this, and I know I'm reaching a bit, but if all the starved, (to the point of eating their kids) desperate people who are also brainwashed were convinced that South Korea was to blame for everything instead of the US (If Kim Jong Un picks an easier target) a lot of people are going to attack the border, possibly get by, and well a lot of people are going to die.

And keep in mind, the leaders don't really so much have a job as they do a position of rulers.

On the freedom tip, lol, I have so much freedom, I can say what I think and up here, it's called 'a difference of opinion' and instead of pre(socially)programmed fools jumping up and down calling for my ban/arrest/burning dolls, they shrug their shoulders and say 'it's your trip man'.

It seems that a lot of people would die no matter what happens. How much hope can there be for a bloodless transition to a more sane government? Maybe I'm just a pessimist, but I have a hard time seeing it.

on the bright side, i suspect that if china were to do a smackdown it would be relatively painless, considering. they undoubtedly have far better intel and operational assets in NK than we do. i imagine they would be capable of a pretty precise surgical strike and set up a new govt far more easily than we could
