Why can we roll Druid as a Worgen, and not as a Human ?

Why ? That's pretty strange since worgens were formerly humans...
Did they learnt druidism since they became were-wolves or something like that ?

    Here you go:

    Lore reasons for classes
    Druid

There is sufficient proof and reason to believe that the practices of primitive druidism or "the old ways" were once alive and well within or around Gilnean society before the sealing of the Wall. It is likely that that the people of Gilneas would have once practiced or acknowledged (in varying degrees) the traditions and reverences of nature worship.

In time though (before the Greymane Wall was erected) the followers of the Holy Light must have spread their teachings to Gilneas and succeeded in converting many of its people, causing druidism to slowly fade into the past and become mostly forgotten.

When starting a Worgen Druid the quest text from Celestine of the Harvest does seem to support these assumptions. During Hallow's End the Faction Commoners and Celestine of the Harvest also have quest text supporting these assumptions, connecting Gilneas, druidism, and the traditions of Hallow's End.

That said, the Night Elves have taken great interest in the Worgen and are readily teaching them more about druidism, helping them to understand other areas of the path. It seems that this is the kaldorei's attempt at redemption in the eyes of their allies as they are partially responsible for the Worgen curse reaching them... They feel they owe it to the Worgen to explain and teach the magic that can lead to their salvation, druidism.

It was druidic magic that allowed the worgen to regain control of their shapeshifting, at least to the extent they currently have.

...It doesnt explain why the gypsies before the worgen turned everyone was able to teach people druidism in Gilneas. Possibly just a lost art that the rest of the human nations forgot about.

Poor lore integration really. Harvest witch is a half-assed attempt at reconciling why Worgen Druids don't have Night Elf "humanoid" forms instead of human ones.

it's just as good as any other race to class integration. better than trying to explain why humans couldn't be hunters till 3 expacs in

    Taking it too seriously.

The first worgen were druids, so if we weren't able to have them, it wouldn't make sense

    From the Ask CDev:

What is the lore behind Gilnean druidism and the existence of "harvest-witches"?Is it a native practice, developed by the humans? Did they somehow pick it up from the night elves, even before the Eastern Kingdoms' discovery of Kalimdor?

In the early days of humanity and its civilization, many tribes of humans had primitive belief systems that incorporated simple nature magic. However, the rise of organized religion such as the Holy Light and the potent arcane magics introduced by the high elves quickly supplanted such traditions. Gilneas, due to its relative isolation, has retained a degree of their ancient culture in the contemporary era. The religious leaders of what was in Gilneas referred to as the "old ways" eventually became "harvest-witches"; those who used their nature powers to augment Gilneas' agricultural output during and following its period of industrialization. Due to the presence of harvest-witches in their culture, when Gilneans learned about night elf druids (albeit through second, third and even fourth-hand sources) they became fascinated by them and their exotic connotations, to the point where many started referring to harvest witches as "druids", though this was quite far from the truth, as few Gilneans had any idea what a druid actually was! Harvest-witches have a limited control over nature, especially plant life, and the powers of harvest witches bear a coincidental resemblance to the low-level abilities of actual druids. Harvest witches who contracted the worgen curse (which was druidic in origin) found that their powers were somewhat amplified, and after making first contact with the night elves cursed harvest witches were offered induction into the Cenarion Circle for both study and training.

It's worth noting that this type of lore existed during the WoW RPG so the concept of Human Druids isn't something that is new or made up on the spot. There is a possibility in lore that there are Stormwind Human Druids, but they would most likely be hermits or in such small numbers that it isn't worth mentioning. If some Gilneans can cling to the Human's old ways then there's a good chance others did, just in small numbers. Also I'm sure that the Gilneans likely resulted in some people picking up the Old Ways. Tauren are a good example of Druidism making a resurgence, people forget that the art of Druidism was pretty much forgotten by the Tauren until recently.

Because a human druid would shapeshift into a gorilla for tanking, a chimpanzee for feral DPS, and a barn owl version of a moonkin for a caster. And ain't nobody want to see that.

    (I do now.)

    Because Stormwind doesn't have druids.

Which only shows that you haven't paid any attention to worgen at all.

There's two reasons: First, harvest witches, an old tradition that survived a little better in Gilneas than elsewhere.
Second: Because that's where the worgen curse came from in the first place. The curse itself is druidic in nature. That's also the reason why Night Elf druids went to Gilneas to help out. Lorewise, each and every PC worgen has at least a little druidic magic, otherwise they'd be permanently stuck in their wolf form.

What Scummer posted is not "Poor lore integration". Its a very well thought out explanation to the worgen "druids" harvest witches.
    Aye mate

if i remember right, worgen was a type of shapeshift that some nelf used, that went out of control. They were banished in the emerald dream and released as a weapon against the scourge by Greymane/Arugal.

The curse of the worgen shifted onto the Gilneans when they were bitten by those nelf/worgens, so the original form of the Gilneans is human, while the original form of those "wild" worgens would be nelf (at least those nearby and inside shadowfang keep)?

The fact that those Gilneans were practicing a primitive form of druidism just helped the night elves of darnassus to teach them the real deal, i guess
