    Heroic Amber Shaper 10 man

My guild just started pulling him today and we're trying the 3 tank, permanent construct strat.

    Raid comp:

    Prot Pally
    Prot Warrior
    Blood DK

    Resto Shaman
    Holy Pally

    Ele Shaman
    Surv Hunter
    Boomkin
    Shadow Priest
    Warlock

We get 3 Reshapes in P1. The first two people that get Reshaped each eat two pools and the 3rd person that gets reshaped is the permanent construct (he eats pools throughout all of P2). The permanent construct stacks the debuff on Amber Shaper during P2.

In P2, we DPS down each new Reshape target (they don't eat any pools) to 20% health and they stack the debuff on the Monstrosity until their Willpower reaches around 16, which is when they press 4 and get out. Once the construct hits 20% health, DPS switch to killing the small amber adds.

The problem we're having is stacks keep dropping off the Monstrosity during P2 because of the gap between a construct hitting 16 Willpower and the next Reshape happening. We have no problem interrupting ourselves or interrupting the Monstrosity, but we can't figure out how to not let the debuff stacks drop off the Monstrosity in P2.

WoL link to our best attempt: http://worldoflogs.com/reports/act2c...?s=7728&e=8075

Any tips for this boss? Should the permanent construct alternate Amber Striking the Monstrosity and Amber Shaper to bridge the gap between the Reshapes?

There's like 20 threads on this and I strongly recommend using the "burn strat"

Only tanks attack boss in P1, and turn their back for no auto attack
    Scalpel 1-5 eat 4; Scalpel 6 and 7 eat 2
Burn boss to 20% with 50+ stacks(8th scalpel)
Only put stacks on monstrosity in p2 until 2nd explosion then start on boss
Use 2 tanks, and have a plate dps taunt / cd during the fling.
Start p3 with 1 pool for tank and around 5 stacks on boss. Phase 2 should only take 2 reshapes and finished way before 3rd scalpel in p2.

    6 dps; 2 heal; 2 tank

We 1-2 shot every week with this strat with minor RNG if healer is first reshape in p2.

Your issue is that you simply don't trust your raiders enough. In order for the reshapes to keep a stack rolling, be it on the boss or the monstrosity, they:
Each have to eat one pool (if they don't, the reshapes won't overlap).
Have to release at 2 sanity right after refreshing their stack on the boss - not 16.
You can't use this strat without trusting your raiders.
Also, first 2 constructs only need to eat one pool per to overlap - 2 is overkill, and you probably won't have enough later on if you "waste" 2 pools at the start.
It's also far easier to have the tank deal with the monstrosity, as only ONE person have to learn how to interrupt it's cast, and you won't ever end up with a cast going off because no one was reshaped, and just have the new reshapes keep the stack rolling on ambershaper.

I've only done this fight in 25HC so this might not work in 10, but what we do is use around the same strat as you, but the tank will stack once between two dps/healers being reshaped, that way the stacks never drop off.

    A few notes:

-use 2 tanks, have the dps warrior taunt before flings. Your comp is godlike for this boss
-take more reshapes in P1, have a designated permatank and tell him not to suck ->he can singlehandedly keep the stacks up 100% of the time, with the rest of your raiders being there just to add more stacks, and not worry about maintaining the debuff
-use hero in P2, kill monstrosity before/during the 3rd reshape.

If your tank makes sure to keep the stacks up, your dps/healers should -never- eat puddles in P2, meaning bringing 2+2 ambers with your from P1 is more than enough (assuming a transition during an amberscalpel resulting in 2+2+4 ambers at the start of P2).
Use hero in P2, it's mostly wasted in P3 because by then it's a guaranteed kill anyways as it's very hard to wipe in P3 assuming you didnt screw P1 or P2 or lost the stacks on the boss

This is hardly possible for ~500 ilvl geared DPS. For 10 men HC >40% is okay.
Most people do not realize the talent and skill it requires to be in a top guild. Many of you think its only about time invested, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

We hit 20% using 3 healers. They're using 2 healers. Although 3 tanks probably has to change

just to the right of the part you bolded: with 50+ stacks(8th scalpel).

We do 4/5 reshapes and managed to get him to 44%. And that was without burning hero, or pots, just straight up cooldowns (ele shamans OP). With hero, pots, and more coordinated cooldowns, 20+ more stacks (we usually have around 30-31 stacks iirc) im sure dropping him to 20% isnt too hard. Oh yea, our dps are about 398 average perhaps.

This is entirely possible and easy. I said 20% because we're average 508 or so and we get to 10-15%. So 20-25% is ideal for his group and EASILY doable. We had an accident one week where tank was too low and had to get out early and we only hit 25%. Phase 3 is just as easy. The biggest thing to make sure for p3 is you keep 1 pool for your tank so he can refill to 100 when it starts, and you start putting stacks on boss after 2nd monstrosity interrupt. The orbs are nothing in p3. Just kite them or hit them, whatever. That's it. This fight is really easy.

If you're new to this fight..... do the burn strat. Juggling stacks on monstrosity and boss is a horrible old strat that guilds only do if they killed it in november/december. We did the juggle strat on our first kill and barely got it (dec 21), and changed it a week later after we had to recruit a few people and relearn the fight basically.

    hey.
this is the next boss my group is going to do.
is there any presentage that the group should start dps or when stacks reach 50 just start dps with full power?
this burn strat duable with 3 healers ? (we got 2 main healers -MW mong and R.druid and a resto-shaman offspec)

If you use 2 tanks, is it not hard to break out tanks (after eating 4 pools), before the other tank gets mced? or is it easy enough to time so debuff doesn't drop

Just throwing it out there, but our 10M guild tried the awesome fucking burn strat and time and time again somebody would fuck us in P2. It became so frustrating to deal with that we went back to keeping the stacks on the boss and the Monstrosity and have been killing it this way since. I suppose this will change from guild to guild, but once the perma-construct tank was able to figure out how to keep stacks on the boss and the Monstrosity, it became incredibly easy. We do 3-4 reshapes in P1 (depending which tank gets reshape first since we use the same tank for the perma-construct each time), then it's a simple matter of keeping stacks on the Monstrosity and burning lust once they get to around 12-14. (First person in the construct is usually able to get around 8~ stacks, then we call for the perma-construct to "bridge" the stack until the second person gets reshaped.) We're usually able to kill the construct just as the third Monstrosity reshape is going out. By this point, the stacks on the boss are around 40-45 and it's a simple matter of making sure the first two amber beacon targets get out of the raid and burning the rest of the boss. This strategy also has the added benefit of being about 2-3 minutes faster than the burn strat suggested by other people. (I raid in 2 guilds and my 25M guild uses the burn strat. Our last kill was ~9 minutes, while my 10M's last kill using this strat was ~6 minutes.)

Point being, there isn't an end-all/be-all strat that works 100% for every raid group. People will say one strategy is superior (mainly because they use it) but it really boils down to what works best for your raid group. I'd recommend to give each strategy a few swings and see what's getting you the most consistent results.
