There is also an audo from the dispatcher of the call. It is very hard to hear because obviously the phone is in his pocket, but it's pretty funny when they find out that they have had 911 on the line the entire time.

On many phones I remember just dialing 9 + Hitting Call would do 911. So I bet that's what happened in this case.

emergency numbers can be dialed even with keylock enabled, not that hard considering 9 and 1 are on the corners (aka easy to buttclick)

I don't think I've ever "butt dialed" anyone. I still carry an older flip phone and have it in a leather case clipped to the side of my pocket. You actually have to open it up to dial.
