    Rayman: Legends delayed until September

Wii U exclusive Rayman: Legends, the follow up to Ubisoft's side scrolling adventure Rayman: Origins, which was released in 2011 for PC, 360, PS3, Wii, 3DS and PS Vita, has been delayed until September of 2013. Legends was due out in 19 days for the Wii U exclusively, almost 3 months after it was supposed to be released. Rayman was slated to make his appearance on the Wii U shortly after the launch of the console, however the game was delayed until February 27th for polishing. Now it has been delayed once again, but not for the reason you would think. Nintendo has lost the exclusive rights to Rayman: Legends, and so Legends will stay in development limbo until the PS3 and 360 versions are completed. Fans who were awaiting the release of Rayman: Legends are now stuck waiting because of other platforms, meanwhile Ubisoft refuses to bring upcoming titles such as Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Watch Dogs, as well as recently released Far Cry 3 despite their reports that porting games to the Wii U is cheap and easy (too bad that doesn't mean doing it well). Despite fan complaints about these games not coming to the Wii U, Ubisoft continues to shaft Wii U owners and Nintendo fans.

Ubisoft has no problem porting Assassins Creed 3 after the fact, but they have a problem with releasing a game before the other versions. Are they afraid that the Wii U version will sell the most and people won't want to buy it on the PS3 and 360? The Wii U has a much smaller install base, why wouldn't you want to get the version out that isn't going to sell as well and increase the marketing campaign when the other versions come out? This is a horrible slap in the face for Wii U owners, having to wait a whole 11 months after the game was supposed to be released.

Microsoft's policy requires cross platform game releases the same day on the Xbox or it will never be able to be made on their console afterwards. So if it came out on Wii U first they will never allow it to release on the Xbox.

If that's true, explain how The Witcher 2 came out on 360 a year after the PC version. Same with F.E.A.R. It'll be nearly 2 years when Terraria comes out for it. Hell, Crysis was out for 4 years before it appeared on the 360. That's just off the top of my head, I'm sure there are more examples.

"Titles for Xbox 360 must ship at least simultaneously with other video game platform, and must have at least feature and content parity on-disc with the other video game platform versions in all regions where the title is available," it reads.

"If these conditions are not met, Microsoft reserves the right to not allow the content to be released on Xbox 360."

This is a small portion of it but basically if a publisher has intent on releasing a game on Xbox as well as PS3 or Wii U it has to come out on all of them at the same time so no console gets a sales advantage.

So? If Microsoft wants the game, they can have it when the PS3 gets it. Why should Wii U owners who were promised the game on the 27th, after already having to deal with an initial 3 month delay from it's original target launch within a couple of weeks of the console's release. Oh well, they can enjoy having the version with inferior graphics and same old controls. But with the studio protesting Ubisoft's decision to delay the game after being pushed to meet the deadline of the 27th, the game might not even be touched for the other platforms and could be delayed even further. Since when was Microsoft's "my way or the highway" rules of releasing games on their system, the grounds for which every other platform has to suffer? Fuck them and the horse they rode in on, if Ubisoft has any level of intelligence, they will scrap their plans to make a 360 version.

Needless to say finding this info out I was kind of pissed further about the situation. Ubisoft as the publisher well knew about the rules obviously because of all the Assassins Creed games and many others that had dual releases. They basically said fuck you to the developers and then fuck you to the Wii U owners, and I guarantee they would make more money now on it than in September when no one will buy it because of GTA 5.

There are going to be a lot of good games released by the fall, there is also a rumour going around that Watch Dogs is going to be coming to the Wii U at the same time as the other versions, however it has not been confirmed as of yet.

Hell, they can give the 360 and PS3 versions extra content that isn't on the Wii U, so long as it's released on the 26th (they can just release it as free DLC later for Wii U owners), I could live with that much. But the fact that they want to delay it for the Wii U just because of Microsoft is fucking bullshit.
