Ya, it bugs me too. You have to look up to the sky to tell it's "nighttime" in that game but what do you expect from a game that always feels the need to dumbs everything down to the level of the dumbest players (and god knows that's pretty dumb).

I believe they did it before and people who played WoW at night complained they couldn't see anything so they reverted it.

Things are still darker at night... Slightly. It doesn't look dark or like night though. The sky gets a bit darker with a few stars and the game world gets about 5% less bright.

Here's a 26 page official wow forum thread on the subject complete with blue response and screenshots of day vs night in the old days compared to now:

Sounds like they are considering "bringing back the night".

"Wow! Alright alright, we hear you. This seems almost like a unanimous opinion on this thread…
We’ll let the devs know how you feel about this "

All the atmosphere has been drained from the night. There is very little distinction between night and day now.

The following screenshots are from someone who managed to tweak the lighting effects that already exist in the game:

Personally I think these are too dark and although they have a lot of atmosphere I think it would actually make playing difficult... but there is a balance between these screenshots and what we have now that could "bring back the night" and the atmosphere without making the game unplayable at those late hours.

Slightly off topic but I also preferred the old weather (especially rain storms) that we used to have.

I'd love to play with it that dark. Maybe slightly lighter. but it definitely makes the world feel scarier and the cities feel cozier.

    Butts are a touchy subject.

I'd love it but I don't see getting that dark happening, it'd inconvenience some players to much. Reverting back to vanilla lighting is a more realistic change.

I would LOVE to see this. I'd prefer a 3-4 hour day/night cycle instead of real time as most of my play time is during the night hours. Really hope this gets implemented.

It was awesome the time when it was truly dark. Also if you pulled an allnighter.... you suddenly saw that it was getting morning - the light was right, the birds were tjirping.

Now if they could also add weather effects that had an effect on your character aswell... Like strong winds making your flying mount slower if you are flying against the wind... or faster if you fly with the wind... Shouldn't be that noticable much... just a few % like 20% or something. So you do "feel" it.

Mudpools... from the rain. And snow that would actually lay there for atleast 10/15 after it stopped snowing.

Nice post that. It sounds like it's coming back. I always knew something was missing. That whole nocturnal feel when playing Wow was really amazing. Especially in old Barrens, shame we can't see that any more but we have no choice. I far preferred Azeroth before the Shattering.

It would be more immersive than 24 daylight.

Well Azeroth has two moons, so it should never get really dark tbh... unless they are perfectly aligned for eclipse.....

You're forgetting that it used to get dark (a lot darker than it is now) and there were still 2 moons back then.
