I'll even accept if they have Frost Bomb count as a DoT, so I can use the best trinkets with the bomb I want to use.

The level 90 talents are the only reason why I'm not planning on playing mage at all. I tried mage dps out on the PTR and it really annoyed me, really unpleasant :/

  3. #223
Well imo the talents are pretty allright, allthough RP has a huge position req. that could use a fix.

This would be nice. I really don't understand why they don't just do this.

Another option is to just use a combination of Wushoolay's Final Choice, Cha-Ye's Essence of Brilliance and Volatile Talisman of the Shado-Pan Assault. Breath of the Hydra can't be that big of a dps increase.

Of course there are sometimes with changing targets and burstphases etc where one is better than the other but thats not the point. As someone said before. Their will be allways a best and allways a bad choise. Even the 90 talents could be changed for specific fights. In 5.2 more than in 5.1 so it will be better.
Nothing. Those are both types of direct damage. Which like I said, you don't see much of in other talent trees.

Wrong there are differences. First: casting a spell doesn't mean you are grounded (if you are a lock, it never "grounds" ya). Second: casting a spell as a DPS class, which exists to do damage, is much more interesting and fun than casting a maintenance buff and do nothing (or dont move) for x secs. Keeping up RoP and Invo are just as fun as being chain CC'ed on PvP.

And all three, mass teleport, hourglass and energy well could add some unique utility for mages (and yes blizzard could balance/restrict em).

In before someone says "but this would make mages required!". No, they would be just as required as locks are now for healthstones and demonic (cheese mechanics) portal.

I would like it if they adjusted rune of power to be a buff that was gained by standing still instead of needing to place a rune(s) on the ground. This achieves a static caster model without the annoying casting, especially in raids where many players are grouping up on one tough to see spot.

I believe hunters had a similar skill at one point, I think it was called sniper training?

I wouldnt mind if it was a stacking buff based on time spent in the rune. that way if you had to leave the rune for whatever reason. you could try to get back to it while avoiding things, but attempt to still keep the stacks.

Yeah. Sniper Training was something like, stand still for 6 seconds and get a 15 second buff. You'd lose the buff during heavy movement periods, but not when spending 5 seconds moving out of the fire.

They really need to scrap the level 90 tier completely, it makes the Mage a misery to play and is the reason I moved to my Lock. Sadly I can't see them doing anything about it mid expansion. Whoever came up with these talents need to be fired!!! They must know the talents are hugely unpopular?

  11. #231
It would be nice to have them comment about their unpopularity at least. State the thinking behind them. At the moment it feels like getting ignored which makes this thing so much more unpleasant.

Side note, i keep hoping someone would get through to gc or someone on twitter with this problem. For some reason all the questions that get answered about mages make me want to punch the computer. I feel like only the most ridiculous and idiotic questions are getting addressed.

Maybe ask Lhiv to comment to GC.

Oh wait he didnt even raid once since MoP and like them o//

Lhiv is the minority who "speaks for the majority".

The majority complains about X, and GC says we're not the majority.

I honestly don't understand the logic. Talents shouldn't be built around casuals in mind, especially when they have to do with doing competitive DPS...

So bubble and buff can be dispelled now, i guess that means invoc for pve and pvp. Not that casters will be viable in pvp this season.

  15. #235
Main's a lock, but throwing in my vote of support for killing the mage 90 tier. Might be the only talent tier in the game where everyone would prefer to not have to take any of the available options if they could.

Or just never use the active, as the passive is far stronger if IW is never kept on cooldown.

Mine's coming off my bars, but I'm still speccing it.

LFR has made raids economically viable again. No LFR, no raids!
Hence, Normal raiders should be thanking LFR players, not belittling them.

  17. #237
I guess thats true. But for arenas and the like an invoc shouldn't be too hard to get off every minute and 15% buff is significant. Having said that tho with the power of most melee coming in 5.2 I don't see casters and significantly frost mages being viable (due to lots of range silences and reduced cd on snare breaks). I guess its going to be fire or gtfo.
