    Resto Mastery Vs Int/Mastery?

    So It's at a point now where I am having a real problem with too much mana, so I swapped from pure spirit to Spirit+Mastery in almost every socket, but I still feel like I have too much regen, would the best thing to do be going with 320 mastery gems or going to 80int/160 Mastery for throughput? (Yellow sockets obviously)

    Cheers =)

    You probably have better gear than my Druid (who is a LFR hero because I can't make the alt run), but I've been going Int+SocketColor for my gems, with the Int meta.

    I'm pretty sure that you want the int/mastery gems in yellow sockets. Removing your int won't lower your regen though, if that's what you're going at?

    No, the standard now is to go for 160spirit + 160 Mastery in yellow/blue sockets I think isn't it? but in the yellow sockets I want to put either int/mast or 320mastery because i feel like I have too much Spirit overall =)

    Wondering if 320 mastery is worth more than the 80int+160 Mastery gem.

    Depends on gear.

    Using Treecalcs (http://elitistjerks.com/f73/t116144-...treecalcs/p11/) the best source we have for stat weights, at current BIS, Intellect provides about 4.5 HPS and Mastery provides about 2.5 HPS.

    Therefore, since gems trade 1 intellect for 2 mastery, going with the mastery gem over intellect is a about a 10% better source of throughput. This is for gems only.. or course.

    Over time mastery should only get better. Since an increase in intellect (which mainly adds spell power) would scale worse over time. So if you gain 1000 intellect, and only have 10000 at that time, lets say that is a 10% increase to your throughput (assuming all 100% spell coefficients). Take that same 1000 and add it to 40000, and it is only a is 2.5% increase, etc... Some buffs do make this a bit more complicated, such as HOTW, Mark of The Wild; then there is crit added in as well, and spells are going to be scaled differently (say rejuv with a 39% coefficient, versus WG at about 10%), the general concept holds..

    Mastery is a +1% to your back-end healing for every 480 mastery, period. So at high levels of intellect, incrementally mastery is going to be stronger at the 2-1 ratio gems give. Though I do not see it ever being stronger 1-1

    It's worth to consider that contrary to mastery, intellect also increases your damage output (both with and without HotW), and since most fights this tier have phases where you can (and some cases need and should) dps freely, I'd go with int personally (which I do).
