Modern Feminism - What's the deal?

Okay so after watching this, I've still got no idea what they actually hoped to achieve.

Video was removed on YouTube.

What's the deal? Just seems like they're taking any reason to get their tits out and cry oppression these days.

So yeah, why is feminism even a thing anymore? Is it really just women so desperate to be a part of something that their mind is stuck in early 1900's? Or are there actually any legitimate reasons for it to be around?

I can't watch videos at work so I'm ignoring that part and just answering the question you asked. I believe that there are still legitimate reasons for it to be around, but perhaps not as many as some feminists believe. There's no question that inequality still exists however, and as long as that's true, there's always a reason for people to work toward balancing things out.

Many women are not doing the same job, and are on lower pay brackets because of it. A lot of the statistics are based on the fact they work for the same company, not on the same project, role or position.

Feminism isn't a monolothic entity. The fact that you are incapable of recognizing that demonstrates that you aren't equipped to discuss its relevance.

As far as this specific act of "protest" is concerned, it looks like these women are performing their displeasure with the Catholic Church from within one of its main symbols in Western Europe. My guess is that their bared breasts are intended to offend the sensibilities of an institution that continues to view the feminine as subaltern by brandishing one of the most recognizable symbols of femininity. Maybe the idea is something along the lines of: "You use our tits to mark us as inferior and justify treating us as separate from you, well here, get a good look at them." or something.

At the end of the day, this is certainly stupid and accomplishes little more than being a symbolic act of disobedience. But I find it nowhere near as offensive as the Catholic Church's institutionalized abuse of children.

Not sure where you got that from. Statistics show that on average women get paid less for doing the same job. Not just being at the same company, that's nonsense, for doing the same job.

Feminism is, in my mind, the response to the inequality that women face. If you think that women are equal (to men), and you walk the walk, then I think that makes you a feminist.

If you're anti-feminist, you're saying that there isn't a problem with the status quo, and, by extension, that it's okay to view and treat women as some how less than men.

Western society (North America and Western Europe) has come a long way, but we still have a ways to go. Much of the rest of the world hasn't come as far, and has a much longer way to go. Denying that there's a problem actively perpetuates the problem.

Then why is it called feminism instead of equalism or something? It is fine for a boy to have a female role model. What a load of rubbish. They're not being smart, they're not being clever and there is little meaning behind it. I'm disgusted by almost all religions and what they've done to people over the years, but running around half naked, and refusing to leave just makes them, and their cause, pointless and a waste of time.

They're meaning (if they did have one) was undermined because of this act, as are many of the feminist views. If most of these women would just come to the table, accept the facts of the world, and worked towards a good balance, women would be in a much better position, and it would've worked. This whole rebellion thing though makes it very hard to the world leaders, to take it seriously...
