    Shell mastery & POH crit only

    Hay,

    so I just read this

    Spirit Shell now provides an absorb shield equal to the average healing and absorb of the triggering spell, including criticals and Divine Aegis. no longer benefits from Mastery, and now properly includes the benefits of Divine Aegis and critical effect chance.

    Divine Aegis now causes critical heals to apply an absorb shield on the target for 100% of the amount healed instead of healing for twice as much. In addition, it grants Power Word: Shield a chance equal to the Priest's critical chance for the shield to absorb twice as much damage. is no longer guaranteed when Prayer of Healing is cast. The effect now activates when the spell crits.

    note - the red words are crossed out on the blue post

    Does it mean they compeletely revert the nerf/change which were coming in new patch?

    i tested on PTR five minutes ago . Spirit shell is still like 290 k absorb so it benefits mastery again. But DA is up if POH will crit only.

    Blizzard changed the way they worded it. That's all. Nothing changed.

    No you completely missunderstand what crossing out means. That means what is crossed out does not happen, does not work, you should not count with it. That means why they crossing out something which is still up and working. Should be applied yesterday 19th February.

    If you completely delete out the crossed words THE OFFICIAL note would look like this - >

    Divine Aegis now causes critical heals to apply an absorb shield on the target for 100% of the amount healed instead of healing for twice as much. In addition, it grants Power Word: Shield a chance equal to the Priest's critical chance for the shield to absorb twice as much damage.

    Do you see there something about POH granting DA only when it crits? I dont.

    It's a safe assumption that it means they reverted the change.

    Ok. I explain to your prayers!

    History of SS:
    MoP Prepatch-5.1:

    There was PoH with autoaegis
    and all other spells with aegis on crit only

    And there were wrong SS formula that calculated like this:
    PoHSS = AvgHeal (tooltip value) * (1+Crit%) * (1+Mastery%) * 1.5
    Why it was wrong? Because average heal from PoH with autoaegis should be calculated with that one:
    PoH_AvgHeal = AvgHeal (tooltip value) * (1+Crit%) * (1.5+0.5*Mastery%)

    As you see there WAS clearly difference between PoHSS and just average expected PoH heal. And difference was:
    PoHSS / PoH_AvgHeal = (1.5 + 1.5*Mastery%) / (1.5 + 0.5*Mastery%)

    It is obvious that with more Mastery%, SS not just turn your average PoH heal into bubbles, but enlarge them even more. So SS was (and IS on Live) a HPS boost in all meanings of that.

    But idea of SS was just turn all your possible healing into bubbles. Not increase your hps dramatically.

    So in 5.2 they get rid of PoH autoaegis and finally hire mathematics with high school education and they got the right formula for SS (which of course included DA, which depends on Mastery):
    All spells works same way, so SS formula are similar to all spells that works with it:
    SS = AvgHeal * (1+2*Crit%+Crit%*Mastery%)
    and they write that patch note:
    no longer benefits from Mastery, and now properly includes the benefits of Divine Aegis and critical effect chance.
    Which many peoples who dont love to theorycraft interpreted in wrong way.
    Yep, SpiritShell no longer benefits from Mastery in wrong way, but it benefits from mastery through DA - you should read it like this.

    And then Disc mastery rehaul happens:
    SS idea not changed at all. It will as intended just turn your average healing into bubbles (including crit and DA that proc from that crit), but will not increase your maximum hps with that spells.
    New mechanic, new formula:
    SS = AvgHeal*(1+0.008*M)*(1+Crit%*(1+0.016*M))
    where M is mastery points.
    They changed wording, not idea of SS:
    Spirit Shell now provides an absorb shield equal to the average healing and absorb of the triggering spell, including criticals and Divine Aegis.
    SS ALWAYS includes mastery. But on live it include it wrong way.
    Blizzard fix it.

    Please note the DA wording was also changed.

    Stop looking at things in a vacuum. No auto-DA on PoH, only on crits...sorry.
