    Lightbulb [Suggestion] Rework Spec system

    I just made that post on Blizz Forums. Want to see what you guys think about.

    Make the 3 specs like Damage / Control / Survival for all classes, and balance their skills around that, making the talent choices tweeks for chosing for more dmg/surv/cont.
    All tank/healer specs would be considered survival.
    Making the Damage and Control ones not too far on DPS, like only 10-15% but Control classes will have access to Buffs/Debuffs and CCs.
    Survival ones will be able to Tank or Heal, while having not much cc or dmg.

    So Mages would be like:
    Fire = Damage
    Arcane = Control
    Frost = Survival

    DKs:
    Unholy = Damage
    Frost = Control
    Blood = Survival

    Druids:
    Feral Cat = Damage
    Feral Bear = Survival / Control* ( Havin a lil less absortion of DMG than Pure Survival Tanks but having some Control (CCs or debufs) )
    Balance = Control
    Restoration = Survival

    Priests:
    Shadow = Damage
    Disciple = Control
    Holy = Survival

    Warriors:
    Arms = Damage
    Fury = Control
    Protection = Survival

    Warlocks:
    Destruction: Damage
    Demonology: Control
    Affliction: Survival

    Shaman:
    Elemental: Damage
    Enhacement: Control
    Restoration: Survival

    Hunters:
    Marksmanship: Damage
    Survival: Control
    Beast Master: Survival

    Paladins:
    Retribution: Damage
    Protection: Survival/Control ( See Druids)
    Holy: Survival/Control ( See Druids )

    Monks:
    Windwalker: Damage
    Brewmaster: Survival/Control (See Druids)
    Mistweaver: Survival/Control (See Druids)

    Rogues:
    Assasination = Damage
    Combat = Control
    Subtlety = Survival

    Hope someone find that insteresting XD

    So lets make everyone a tank and healer? Too much gear optimizations would have to be made.

    imho - sounds boring. Not enough variety.

    That would be very interesting! In fact all that entails less homogeneity and more diversity has my support.

    I, as an arcane mage, am all in favor of this restructuring!

    It seems like someone doesn't like rogues...
    I don't want every class to be tank/healer and this would be too complicated to balance.

    Fixed the rogue part sorry.

    Not really needed to Survival to be Tank or Healer, but have tools to keep self or other alive / safe.

    Instead of giving us a long list of all the specs in the game with your labels added to them, it probably would have been better to provide more details or reasoning instead. Why do you think this would enhance the game? What problems would it address? What new gameplay possibilities would it present?

    On top of that, your groupings aren't even particularly intuitive. I mean, if there is one archetype that represents single-minded aggressiveness (and thus the "tunnel vision" damage dealer) it would be the berserker, and yet you assigned Fury a control role.

    Overall your idea seems unfinished and vague. But it might just be me missing the point.

    I agree that more details would be good, but thats just a napkin idea. I have preserved the names of the specs present on WoW atm, for people to compare to what we have now.
    The main idea is not making 2/3 pure dps specs for the same class ( like we have on mages/locks/hunters/rogues ).

    Would be better for balance purpose and would simplify simbiosis among the classes, removing excessive control and survival from pure damage classes, that could make pvp more interesting, so people will realy need the variety, and not the "full burst ahead".

    Those changes can make raiding special again, people hunting for Control classes for buffs/debuffs and/or needed ccs, and that will make the dual spec work as intended.

    Will justify why Tanks can't outdps damage dealers and why damage dealers can't outheal self when focused.

    Won`t be like homogenization of all classes, since all will have different spells/skills/ccs/buffs/debuffs.

    But will make it a lil less random than what we have now.

    Every time I get upset with Blizzard over a proposed change, I thank my stars that their devs aren't this bad.

    So, who would really want to play a Surv or Control DPS spec? We already know (from history) that people do not like being buff bots, and will resent DPS loss for having that ability. In a nutshell, a vast majority of DPSers would take the damage spec. Thus, you have now limited people to a single spec in a class to DPS when there were previously multiple options.

    Currently, people freak out if one spec is 1% more DPS than another. You are suggesting a 10-15% DPS drop.

    I can admire what you are trying to do, but I don't think the general population will buy into it. When people pick DPS, all they really want to do is put up the biggest DPS numbers possible. They don't care about buffs or CC.

    @OP: Somehow i get the feeling you've never seriously raided in WoW.

    Sorry but this sound so boring. Only 1 spec for dps? No tyvm!

    Bringing out the word epeen won't make your original point work, "Not really needed to Survival to be Tank or Healer" makes no sense whatever spec gives the most dps would be used by dps raiders. The others would just be extra specs and gear thats not being used making it harder to gear up.

    It's just a suggestion, if you disagree just make your point, calling me bad won't make you win an argument. Won't make your epeen bigger also.

    The fact that the most dps is the best dps don't need to be that way, really depends on how the dungeons are made.
    Wow is dumbified atm, so most people tend to feel like that, just bring the stronger dps you have and we melt that with no cc/buffs etc.
    And btw, gearing should be rewarding not easy. And gears don'r need to be completly different to what we have now.

    It has been that way since the first time DPS could be measured. You might want to reconsider.

    I don't think so, the "Tops DPS" fight and all the unbalance that we have nowadays is due that, they dumbified the dps role, and almost dumbified the entire game, the main chalange now is to find people with half brain to not die to simple fight mechanics.

    They shall make cc/buff and debuffs important also to make people insterested in those, but not like is today, everything is out of control, some have too much dmg, others dmg and control, and some have too much dmg, controll and survival skills.... If we keep that way soon this will be the World of Magecraft.

    Would not be like that, Damge and Controll classes can dps, the diff is that pure Damage classes do more dps, 10-15%, but have fewer cc/buffs/debuffs tools.
    And btw its almost what we have now, only 1 spec of dps is viable on most of the pure dps classes.
