Well first of all, unless during those 30 seconds you sat down with a hammer and anvil and your character went through an animation (or the NPC, either one), then all it would do it make you wait 30 seconds while you character just stands there. Honestly, I repair maybe three times a week, so I really wouldn't care, but I don't think it's something they would or should add.

In the real world you often can not repair clothing and armor to be perfect like it was, eventually it will have to be broken down, smelted, what have you in order to create something new.

This is a game, and whatever happened to people liking a game to be immersive, and sort of life like? Adding to the realism of the game does nothing to hurt anyone. Seriously you are squaking at a 30 sec channeled cast timer to repair your gear?

    Get real.

As much as I would like to believe this statement, the fact of the matter is, that it is just not true.

People complain all the time about having a lack of gold to buy things in this game. It is astonishing to me that anyone would be lacking gold with how easy it is to get, but there are several people that i personally know that are always broke and having repairs cut in half would make them extremely happy.
adding a channeling on repair gear is nothing more than a waste of time it add 0 realism, if it's realism that you want then you should ask for blacksmitings being the only able to repair plate and mail, letherworkers for leather armor and tailors for cloth etc; also you need to pay the materials used in the rapair process. This is adding realism, but in wow it just adding something completely out of the game.

at max, 30 seconds of your time having a channeled cast to repair your gear would suck for you? When you probably once in a blue moon ever have your gear that red?

    I dont believe you people.

I'm not talking about a 5 minute channeled cast to repair your gear.. not even a 3, or even a 1 minute cast, im talking about a MAX of 30 seconds.

    30 SECONDS

    Thats it.

And for minor repairs like 5-10 seconds. Lol, you all do realize you spend more time jumping around in circles, buffing, talking on mumble / vent, messing around than it would take to repair your gear?

Seriously, sometimes I think people complain for the sake of complaining.

I dont believe that you continue to post stupid suggestions that no one likes and then argues about why they are amazing changes that are needed.

Is this game immersion similar to other game immersion ideas, such as:
1 - No flying while leveling, because it's always more immersive to run around on a ground mount even though you've been flying for the past 5 years.
2 - No cauldrons, because it's always more immersive to make the guild officers give individual flasks to each...and...every...single...raid member.
3 - No mass summons, because it's always more immersive to either have a warlock, or sit there while the last person dilly dallied over. Oh, but wait, you need to run into town to get something that is needed, or your gear is broken and you need to repair but we have no warlock or engineer? No problem. Let us run out and summon you back... oh wait, we can't, because the second you zone in you're on the other side of the zone. OK, everyone, we're being immersed in the world.... 5 minute break!

    Take a stopwatch
    Set it to 30 sec
    Wait
    Press Repair
Grats you're immersed. Now leave us alone

What a waste of time. Why change something that has worked fine for 8 years?
    Aye mate

Exactly.. 30 sec's.. Whats the point? There is no added immersion with it? It doesn't matter what I spend my time doing, this is an unnecessary change.. I can't believe you spend your time complaining about people not accepting your pointless change..

Can you state one argument for making this change other than it would make YOU feel more immersed?

  11. #51
Just what the game needed more things eating up time for no reason. This would go from a neat idea to something widely hated by almost everybody.

I would support this only to help teach the ppl with more then one type of armor that they are screwing up. "brb I need to go to the bs, tailor and lw trainers to repair see you in 5 minutes."
"Privilege is invisible to those who have it."

Not sure how a cast bar gives the feeling of immersion, perhaps the NPC'S hauling my armor away to their respective specialist, and stitching/pounding on it with a hammer in front of me might be immersive, but it's been 8 years, why add extra time to something that doesn't really need it.

  13. #53
I've heard some pretty terrible ideas in my day, and this one definately is up there amongst the worst of them.

  14. #54
Honestly, if you want immersion, you're playing the wrong game. Immersion doesn't work well for the most part in MMO's due to the majority of the player base not caring about it. Most just want to immerse themselves into doing mega damage. If you can't get past that simple fact, you should go play a single player game. There are a ton of realism mods for Skyrim that make it incredibly realistic, that's where the immersion is at, not in an MMO with an immature (for the most part) player base.

stupid idea.. adding a cast timer up to 30 seconds is rediculous.. 8-10 seconds should be max for broken gear.. and anything over would have people complaining like crazy.

if this was added blacksmiths/engineers should get a 50% discount on repairing their own broken gear or something.. making the profession a lil better.

  16. #56
Immerson = taking plate to a blacksmith, leather/mail to a leatherworker or blacksmith (for mail) and cloth to a tailor for repairs. Then bows and guns need an engineer to fix, blacksmith for swords, axes, polearms, daggers and maces, scribe for repairing staves and an enchanter to repair wands. That's immersion. That's also beyond aggravating.

No, it's completely true. Repair costs are ridiculously low if you actually do anything in this game at all. The amount of gold that accumulates for doing basically nothing is pretty ridiculous.

Not to mention Guild repairs are absurdly easy to get for anyone out there whether you're a raider or not.

Repair costs are without argument, irrelevant.

Jay, how can you say in one breath that it'd add immersion then in the next say it'd be such a short cast time as to be irrelevant? Why would something that would be ignored be classed as immersive?

  19. #59
Alt-tab for 30 sec is not what I call "immersive".

I'd rather they just remove repairs, it's just a gold sink at this point.
