    *Official* Oscar 2013 Thread

So what are people thinking so far? The show? The host? Winners and losers?

I dont see why that should be a problem?
You know everything isnt about the dresses from the red carpet, as you may think..

That's just an ignorant thing to say Swiffty, but moving on.

Really liking Seth MacFarlane so far, William Shatner's bit went a bit too long, but overall it was amusing. No real surprises on the awards given so far, let's see how the rest pans out

Seth is personally hit or miss. Like there are times in which he shines, and then follows up with a "ooookkkkaaayy" joke. So far, I'm giving him a C grade.

What if you are gay but hate the oscars and all the glamour that goes with it?

Can they be streamed somewhere? I don't have a TV at the moment.

Christoph Waltz won Supporting Actor, I saw. I approve.

I'm a straight male and watched the Oscars. What's the bad news?

    OT: Anne Hathaway's nipples.

I'm loving the Jaws theme to hurry stuff along, hoping it gets played to Spielburg later.

If it does, I hope he comments on it. That would be funny.

I want him to intentionally go on to get them to play it, then him to act like he's accepting the award for Jaws.

Agreed, another brilliant character. It's still frustrating that Leo wasn't even acknowledged for playing Candie; so perfectly greasy and uncomfortable.

Yes, of course. But it's making a rather large splash among the media already.

From One Day more, to Seth Macfarlane hosting, to Anne Hathaways nipple dress, I've enjoyed it. And I haven't enjoyed the Oscars in a long time. As much as I'm a Ricky Gervais fan, I haven't really liked what the host is doing since Billy Crystal until now.

I think Seth McFarlane is capable of judging the audience to know what is/isn't the level of good comedy.

And the Oscars having more prestige than the Golden Globes, he knows to push the boundary but not Gervais it.

Well for the most part Seth has gotten better as the show progressed. I'll upgrade my ranking to a B-minus. It's not the worst hosting performance, but I still say Billy Crystal is a hard host to top.

that was really well said. I couldn't agree more. Sadly I lack the eloquence to have put it that way. lol

Instead I shall sit here and be sad that The Life of Pi wasn't about an actual pie..... I knew I should have seen that movie before getting excited about just a title.

Sadly, there will never be another Billy Crystal when it comes to hosting. No one can come close. If anything, I feel a bit bad for post Billy hosts. The stress of trying to fill those shoes must be overwhelming.....

David Niven was a classic, but yes in the modern era Billy Crystal is just a brilliant host. Personally I'd love to see someone like Robin Williams give it a shot, I can't help but think he'd be perfect.
