Honestly, i'm hoping for either a heroic death (Sacrificing oneself to defeat the final evil, a bit cliché but not as loopy as some other bits of lore we have...), or barring that, a piano-on-head incident, can't stand the "Holier than thou"-stuff...

I don't know why Varian would ever expect Anduin to develop his fighting skills considering the sheltered life he forced on his son, because boo hoo my wife was murdered and my best friends are all doomed to become the Lich King. No wonder he runs off like a little brat all the time. Let the boy breathe, man!
OMG 13:37 - Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Cleave unto me, and I shall grant to thee the blessing of eternal salvation."

And His disciples said unto Him, "Can we get Kings instead?"

    Giant pope hat.
Imagine discipline/holy priest (Anduin) fighting against arms/fury warrior (Garrosh). Ye, exactly.

I want Anduin to be a badass priest. Like the Ashbringer, but in robes and a bubble.
    Ex-WoW player as of 3/25/2013.

Yes, even getting A BELL TO THE FACE didn't seem to change much....

Watching me kill stuff doesn't count as combat experience.

    Neither did Arthas.

When he and Varian got together, Varian was always the muscle jock and Arthas was the quiet scrawny one, but that didn't stop him from becoming a pally.

He will fuse with Me'dan and Kal-el, son of Go'el to form Captain Azeroth.

I remeber him in early MoP, sitting in a cage in Jade Forest kidnapped by the Horde. After seeing them train monkeys to fight he says "Bringing our war to these natives is wrong. We should be teaching them the best of ourselves not the worst...". For me that's probably the worst line in whole WoW, but never mind.

Imagine Anduin leadin the Army of the Light, wielding, I don't know, another Ashbringer, a prayer book in the second hand, a bow in third. He looks at the approaching Legion and says: "Why are they so hateful? They must know there is another way. They must find their inner peace". Ladies and gentlemen, your future leader.

Well, that all sounds very... wait, three hands?! ABERRATION! I must slay the mutant, in the name of the Emperor!

I'm sure when you were a teenager you thought you were pretty "realistic and mature" as well. He is acting his age which is two extremes of youth. You're either too optimistic or too pessimistic. Neither are very practical in a world riddled with gray.

He needs a heel turn or at least become a bit jaded later probably due to Wrathion's influence. By that I mean he should become a full fledged shadow priest. Then he'll learn the black and white reality.

Maybe they will change him in the future to bad-ass paladin, just not next hipie Tirion. But honestly i hope it will be Turalyon who will lead that army.

They will reveal that for mayority of his life he was sexually harrased by velen/benedictus and repeating they mistakes he will keep the cycle continue and become first pedophile-themed boss. Then we kill him. The end.
