Which GPU to pick for my PC?

    Hey guys

Yesterday I build my new PC and realized my GPU is broken, I will change it today. I am going to buy from mindfactory, a well known german computerparts supplier.

Here is the link to their webshop, sorted for PCIe cards with 2GB Ram and a 6pin power supply (dont like 2x 6pin) :
    http://www.mindfactory.de/Hardware/G...listing_sort/3

I am looking for a card for about 180 euro which is in stock (german: "Lagernd"), so I can take one without having to wait for the delivery.

    My other components are:

    CPU: Intel i5 3570 @ 4x 3,4GHz
    MB: Asus P8Z77-V LK Z77
    RAM: 8GB (2x 4GB) Corsair Vengeance Black
    SSD: Samsung 840 (128GB)
    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
PSU: 630W be quiet! Pure Power L8 CM Modular 80+

Any suggestions on what card to pick?

And please excuse my very bad english as well

    Greetings,
    MrWilson

I would go with the EVGA GTX 660. I have heard nothing good about these cards and I have always used and trusted EVGA. I am currently using an EVGA GTX 670 and have had zero problems with any game I have played. Cheers!

The obvious choice is to go with a GTX 660 but the 2 models that are close to €180 are models I wouldn't personally pick.

Can you extend the budget to fit http://www.mindfactory.de/product_in...--Retail-.html ?
    Intel i5-3570K @ 4.7GHz | MSI Z77 Mpower | Noctua NH-D14 | Corsair Vengeance LP White 1.35V 8GB 1600MHz
    Gigabyte GTX 670 OC Windforce 3X @ 1372/7604MHz | Corsair Force GT 120GB | Silverstone Fortress FT02 | Corsair VX450

Limiting yourself to one powercable is stupid to be blunt when your PSU can easily handle it. There's no practical reason for it and you'll also limit yourself to low end cards.

This one is by far best choice in your price range

Yes I can, but unfortunately the card is not in stock.

What do you guys think about http://www.mindfactory.de/product_in...--Retail-.html ?

GTX660 is clearly better than Radeon 7850, especially in Blizzard games.

I"m not to sure about that currency but if you can get a HD7870 that would be a good choice as well.
http://www.mindfactory.de/product_in...--Retail-.html I'm not a big fan of HiS but it is an option.

I just picked cards that was around 180 there are better 7870's but they cost a bit more out of the 3 of those I would get the XFX double D.

I would pick a 660 over a 7850 any day though. 7850 seems so off balance with the rest of your build.

    And a 660 woudnt? :P

If you can stretch your budget, this is the best choice. And really sticking to using just one 6 pin cable is stupid..... Your PSU probably has 2 already one would be unused.

If you are open to using two power cables this card is in stock and will blow the others out of the water.

WoW, or any Blizzard game for that matter, is optimized for Nvidia cards, sadly. AMD cards run well enough on their own but when it comes to equal price points, Nvidia cards will pull ahead. There's no driver modifications that AMD can do to help, WoW was just written to take advantage of Nvidia cards from day one. You can't beat design.

That being said, a 10% difference (on average, from what I have found) is negligible. If you're going to do a lot of raiding, you might want to go for an Nvidia card. If you're a run-of-the-mill player that has no raiding ambition, get whatever is more affordable. You won't top out your new CPU at all.

Sapphire 7870 is a solid GPU I would take one for sure.

Was raiding with mit HD 2600XT without fps issues (low/mid graphic settings), so these new cards will clearly be enough I guess, regardless of choice

At the same price point, and at max settings, an Nvidia card will do better than an AMD card. Every time.

Edit: I only game at max settings. Low/medium isn't even considered when I build machines. When you're building something like you are now, you need to consider not going with something weak because you're wasting the rest of your build. Get the best that you can afford, don't skimp because someone tells you to or you feel it's "just enough." Games at max settings are loads better. If you're not looking for that, drop to a Core i3-3220.
