This game is really being reduced to a cash shop..... Hope rise of the hutt cartel fares better than this....

I remember when patch 1.2s notes were like 5 pages long of improvements.

    Good times... Good times.

Patches shortly after launch are always massive in size because there are a ton of little things to be done. I remember Rift's hotfix notes alone from the first few weeks were longer than most major patch noes, and by the time 1.1 hit they had crested the size of a single expansion.

It's strange to see them include all the cartel market updates in the patch notes though. I don't usually remember seeing other studios include them in the patch notes, but rather in separate updates.

Yup...every communication is textbook to how not to do F2P. Patch notes consisting of all the 'new' things they add to the market, all of the specials on the market, and then some afterthought bug fixes.

It feels a little "HAY U HAVE TO BE SUBSCRIBER 4 BONUS EXP" to me. Stop shoving it in people faces all the god damn time. I just got an email about it too. It's like offensive.

Agree, I don't like this turn at all. It is possible to have a cash shop without including every little detail about changes to it in the patch notes, patch notes made up of 90% additions to the cartel market. F2P game is being quite disappointing, I want subs back.

Well, when it was a subscription game we had 6 months of 0 anything.

So... I don't want that either.

honestly, level 40-45 is a joke if you've been doing your daily pvp quest while leveling. Like, I don't mean to be that guy but... The 40s is one of the fastest brackets.

ya know I have held back my comments on the last few patchnotes because I was HOPING it would change but i am really disappointed in the HUGE blocks of cartel changes and so very sparse additions to the game itself. but as sad as I am at the state of the games market I still like my trooper and still have two stories to finish maybe it is time to go visit pandaria and see some old frineds

These patch notes don't actually offend me much. It's one added item to the shop and then just info on the discounts.

The actual bug fixes are very welcome and they could have avoided including all 60 discount changes but I guess they have to advertise them somewhere.

If you look carefully, the meaty part are the bug fixes.

The two emails weren't enough advertisement?

Look, I like hotfix patches and that's not the issue here. The issue is the optics that they are doing a piss poor job of managing. They should just have "CM sale!" not a page of "AND THIS IS ON SALE AND THIS IS ON SALE" ect ect ect. It looks like it's all they care about which drives people crazy.

i have too agree, patchnotes (or hotfix notes) are there too show what was changed/fixed/added or removed from things which are important too gameplay.
things that are part of your cashshop system should be mentioned seperately.

as example: the last blizzshop mounts blizzard added were all mentioned in a seperate post with price and everything. while it was being ignored in the patchnotes (or at best mentioned amongst newly added mounts) in favor or real game changes.
they should do the same for Swtor patchnotes, instead of this list in the patchnotes.

Well, here's the difference. I don't disagree they should have a separate e-mail for CM changes, but they need to patch things in order to change them. Since you can only access the market in game, it's gotta be patched. With Blizzard's cash shop, it's completely separate and can't be accessed anywhere but the website. So putting up new items doesn't require any patching at all.

Other games I've seen generally will include a not about cash shop sales/additions/removals in patch notes, but it's a one liner with a link to more info. And that's for games that have their cash shops running in-game.

I don't believe that I'm a fanboy but I never really care about the signs "SUBSCRIBE FOR MOAR" that are on most places in the game. This is patch 1.7.1 not 1.7 and it's about the new items in cartel market. Their main income right now is from those purchases and I don't finding wrong that they add new cosmetic features. LoL adds new skins and everyone is excited about. Why is so bad that they add something on the CM? The game is -almost- balanced (and I main a Scoundrel, the shittiest dps in the game) and with few bugs, as well as a good event and new content is coming. They have keeped their word about the 6 week patching cyrcle and they have the game in a very good standing (kinda late, I know).

I'm not trying to defend BW or SWTOR, just saying my opinion (please don't eat me because it's different )

Like I said, I'm not saying they should include the changes to the CM in their patch notes, I'm just detailing the difference between comparing those two particular games when it comes to microtransactions.

Nobody is saying they have a problem with them adding things to the CM. They're saying they don't want to be bombarded with it through the patch notes.

Saying things like this is why people are inclined to believe your opinion isn't exactly...trustworthy. League of Legends is an entirely free game that doesn't restrict your experience in any way possible. It doesn't require a subscription to fully play and the skins are purely optional cosmetics. SWTOR shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence with such a shining example of what F2P really is.

That's debatable depending on who you talk to. Additionally, keeping their word about one thing doesn't really make it amazing. I can list several things they haven't kept their word about.

And like Notorious said. It's not really the fact that they are adding Cartel Market items. No one has a problem with a F2P game adding items. It's more of a two fold issue where 1) Almost the entire patch notes are filled with details only pertaining to the Market and 2) The way things have been added to the market, the way those things have been egotistically pushed to the community, and the precedent that it establishes over actual content production is a problem.
