To zum it up:
If he casts his strike every time he's at 60 energy or 120 (or anything else) will yield the same result, except for the two strikes you'll have lost by the end of the fight. The 2 strikes are lost if he finishes the fight at 120 energy, rather than 0. This is true.
But it is ABSOLUTELY NOT ANYTHING MAJOR. It is as minor as anything has ever been.
Over a 18 seconds fight it's huge. Over a 600 seconds fight it's 0.000001% of your total dps. Pulling numbers out of my ass, but you get the point. I hope.

On another note, dont know if anyone has noticed it, but you always have to resummon demon when u get buffed because the buffs are not carrying over to the demon already out
I think it's a rather small difference, but the AI is still bad. I think he loses a small amount of energy/min cus he caps out and then uses the strike, which makes him not regen for just a tiny moment.
After 10 minutes, I tested 87 Strikes to 74 strikes. Granted Yes, this isnt a huge dps increase in itself, but its still a loss of dps overall. When u manually input mortal cleave, it keeps resetting the swing timer on his melee strikes. Which is also a loss in dps. To gain a bit of persepctive, if every cleave = 20k which is about right after raid buffs thats 280k damage missed just from mortal cleaves. It is also 156 Demonic fury lost over the course of a fight. Thats nearly 4 Touchs of chaos right there.

Macroing to SB isnt the best workaround else you wont be able to use Felstorm right when you want it... becuase he wont have energy.
My sugestion is macroing to HoG so he does uses some energy at the start of the fight and other times but he will still cap it.
This bug is frustrating... GMs ignore bug reports and direct to the forums funny thing there arent eu bug forums anyway.

make a macro problem solved and just set there abilities off so you control when you want to use them
I tried this my self over 3 minutes got a difference of 4 strikes, 2 attributed to him staying at high energy under normal circumstances and 1 attributed to 3min not lining up with the last strike when he was on auto (when on auto he was about 1 sec from using mortal strike, on manual the last strike occurred exactly at the 3min mark) so over the course of 3 min I only saw 1 strike real difference.
As long as you make him strike 1-2 times at the start of combat (and never let him cap by not attacking something) you shouldn't have an issue it looks like.
Seems like the miniscule sub 1 second time he spends energy capped causes him to lose out on strikes over the course of the fight.

macroing still doesnt resolve the issue that the swing timer is reset everytime u mortal cleave if u look at melee swings in my above photobuckets u will notice higher melee hit for less cleaves and less melee but higher cleaves for manually
I'm rather better convinced this is an issue now >< I haven't had much chance to see how much this is happening on live because affliction's my MS and has been far too powerful this tier, but if this is happening consistently, we should really lobby for a fix. I'll see if mine's doing it in TotTK Wednesday.
