I can't find anything to back up why, thought at first maybe enchanting was getting a change, but hundreds of these are being dumped on the AH at around 20-50s each from multiple sellers. Has there been an announcement somewhere I missed making these no longer needed? Starting to get paranoid now

They are probably a bad buy now actually, unless there is a serious twinking precense on your server on ilvl 60-300 items(the gap between LK enchanting and Cata). Since these are the mats you need to powerlevel enchanting through WotLK content:
Wrath of the Lich King - Northrend
274 x Infinite Dust
2 x Lesser Cosmic Essence
6 x Dream Shard
6 x Crystallized Water

Yeah, they pretty much made Northrend enchanting a cakewalk now that you don't have to make the rods anymore.
