Do you guys get your arena cap then stop playing arena for the week?

I was just wondering what you guys did?
I hate the fact how there is a cap for conquest points each week.
I find myself just logging on to cap arena then never play pvp again.

I think they should go back to the old system in WoTLK when you reach a certain rating you can unlock your next piece of gear.
That gives people incentive to get better and play more arena.

Back then if you had 1250 arena rating you get one piece of gear then you farm honor to get that piece.
then 1300 a new piece unlocks and once you get to 1800 you unlock your weapon.

There were so many nights me and my friend stayed up trying to get to 1800 rating we finally got it and it felt so good to finally get our weapons.

PVP should be like that again. Right now its like a job, you log on then you cap your points then dont play it anymore

    True.

Remove caps, remove raid lockouts, remove BoP, let us trade anything that is an object, including honor/justice/valor/conquest points.
At least in PvP they could compensate this with rating requirements, so that it's not only a mindless grind, just as the OP said.

I'd love such a WoW with increased freedom and less carebear protection mechanics. Like they're telling a little kid "if you eat all your chocolate right now, you won't have any of it later or tomorrow". It should rather be something like this: "If you're good enough, you can eat as many chocolate as you want!"

Yeah the only reason they have caps is so you stay playing the game longer.
They make you feel that if you missed out on a week of playing wow you are "falling behind".

The true people who actually enjoy this game are people who don't play for titles, gear, caps or achievements. These people just play the game because to them the competitive aspect of pvp alone is fun.

Then you have the people who treat the game as if its a chore or a job. Always acting like struggling to get capped each week is a duty rather than something that's supposed to be enjoyable. You also get other people who feel that they have to get "rank 1" or some rating by any means necessary to assert dominance in a virtual world. Some of these people would love rules and restrictions that limit a motivated newer player's advance through the pvp hierarchy by any means such as "Gear ratings."

Unless I'm pushing rating I don't normally queue on my main. I have 3 alts to queue 'for fun' on. Otherwise I play 2s for cap and leave it for the week.

I remember WotLK though, spending evening after evening trying to get different pieces of gear and trying to get better as a team so we could get higher rating. Having multiple incentives all the way up to 2400 would mean everyone at any rating would have a reason to keep queueing and get better. Right now you kinda just play to what rating you 'think' you should have and stop.

3s are always dead serious and I hold on to the rating and don't play unless we're seriously going for a push.

2s I almost never care about. Just get the points. I'd have loved to push for a high rating just for the achieves but I never found someone to seriously PVP with (besides doing Mage/Disc, but omfg it took me forever (as the mage) to get the kill if we were up against another DPS/healer).

When I actually do 2's I just cap my self and my friends toons, then wait till next week. I really just do not like arena.

Sry to burst your bublle, but their will be a catchup mechanic in 5.3. So you don't "miss" a week.

You don't miss out on a "full" weeks worth of points but you miss out on about 800 a week and any after 5 weeks.

I miss the old system. The team had to play 10 games, and you watched the points roll in at 3am Tuesday morning after staying up all night.

The point of playing PvP back then was to get rating. There was no silly ass point grind. You didn't stop at 10 games because you were at 2192, and some RMP was thinking they were the shit and needed to be STORMHERALDED into reality.

I will forever miss watching the points roll in, the world pvp out in nagrand, the fun of buying that new item, enchanting it up, then just going to bed. Arena was a medicine for the grind fatigue of Vanilla ranking; adding in more grind tastes bad. It shouldn't be this way, it doesn't have to be. Let the scrubs get their points only playing 10 games. Let the point totals be equal between RBGS and Arena, and let the scrub cap increase every week till hits a maximum cap at mid season. Let it even be random games!

Go back to Arena being about Arena, and fun, not point grinds.
"Gamer" is not a bad word. I identify as a gamer. When calling out those who persecute and harass, the word you're looking for is "asshole." @_DonAdams

Everybody knows this. Also, since it might be only in 5.3 it will come out, it isn't really something to look forward to. I mean, blizzard already postponed it from 5.2.

And yeah, I only do arena games to cap. There's not much incentive to do more arenas anyways besides "having fun" while killing gimpy burst classes with no communication.

Blizzard doesnt let people play warcraft the way they want to anymore. You play it blizzards way under there rules.
You can grind .....but only as much as we let you.
You can raid all day......only on the content we release for you.
You can pvp for gear ......only as much as we let you.
Dailies? o we like those go ahead and spend your life doing dailies.

They put caps in place to make the game feel less of a chore and called it "quality of life" changes. All they really did was give us limits to what we want to do or can do.

I actually play 2s to help cap people in my guild, to teach players things about arena in my guild, and to try out stuff with my PvP friends. I am like most people though, I will cap my alts in 2s and then do nothing else with them, but on my main I am doing arena all through the week. The most fun I have in arena actually comes from teaching the players that maybe play well in BGs but want to move into arena play and I just help them understand positioning and communication. It is more fun to have a no pressure situation where a failure is actually a good thing because it gives us something to talk about after the fact.

Perhaps more people would enjoy PvP a little more if they would take the time to teach instead of just cry about a player...

There are a lot of things that people would like to change but in many peoples opinions it would seriously imbalance the game. If you think you're good at this game, take some time to remember the t1 players who play for the first two months and then stop doing arenas til the next season. If everyone could get their gear and conq, jp, etc right away then the people who have things to do during the day would log on to find everyone who plays ALL day long to be destroying them in every way possible. They want to make it possible for good long time playing casuals to have fun too. They have to limit things because without a limit they would lose a good half or more of their player base to people who have jobs RAGING all over the forums due to people in fully geared toons two shotting them in BGs.

The other points at least made sense. I don't understand this at all. You want to raid in 5.4 or 6.0 content during the 5.2 patch? Or are you complaining that they gate LFR so the super hardcore done feel obligated to run LFR for progression? If so normal mode is open for you right now to go kill some bosses.

OT: I don't always cap my conquest I'm more of a pve than pvp person but when I do cap I don't do anymore arenas.
