For the same price you could get a 7970 Gigabyte which is a stronger card overall. I just got mine and have it running at 1270/1800 which beats any highend 7970 card.

It also depends upon what games you play Toffie if i play game that favor nvidia then my amd card will make my fps suffer while with a nvidia card it'd make my fps better. My games WoW/Tera/Wildstar/FFARR/Phantasy Star Online 2/Skyrim

The only game i see favouring Nvidia is WoW and that isn't more than 2 fps.

According to this with 670 vs 7970 the 670 beats the 7970 by 10 fps in skyrim http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/598?vs=508

Drivers plays a heavy role in their performance.

Anandtech's benchmarks were probably correct at the time of writing. However they are most likely out of date.

Unless they have someone on their payroll who continually updates all GPU benchmarks everytime a new driver is released, highly improbably, you're best bet is to see the most recent reviews.

Techpowerup actually did a review on the Sig2 card and it doesn't show a 10fps lead, but it does show a lead

    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/E...ture_2/22.html

Toffie has mentioned a factory overclocked Gigabyte 7970. Chances are this card will definitely perform better than those 7970 results listed in that link I've posted and most likely score very similarly to the EVGA GTX 670 Sig2.

Since you say that Drudgery i guess that it doesnt matter which one i get because both of them are pretty close in performance/fps right?

Yeah pretty much. It's been discussed on many forums and not just this one, let price/preference be the deciding factor. Both are excellent cards.

If you're in love with the Sig2, then go for it. It's price isn't so ridiculous compared the 7970 that you should ignore it completely. Neither cards will hold you back in any games that you play. Unless you're running high resolution screens then I would probably opt for the 7970 due to the amount of vRAM but having said that I don't think one 7970 will be enough to cope with high settings and playable framerates across multiple monitors, which is less of a vRAM issue and more of a performance issue when running such high resolutions. That's ignoring the headaches that come with Xfiring, which is an entirely different story altogether.

I have both the 680 Lightning and a Gigabyte 7970, I can definitely feel a performance increase over the 680 in games like skyrim where 3GB memory is good to have when you use mods. If those are the games your planning to play then take whatever you want. Also the video I linked used the newest drivers and the link you provided shows the 670/680 in lead, probaly haven't updated the 7970 drivers.

Also another video where the 7970 takes the lead in skyrim.

In Tera the 7970 have proved to more stable since the game is horrid optimized for the 6xx gtx cards.

Look the benchmarks through before you make your decision.

Both cards are excellent, but that doesn't mean he should go for a card thats weaker than the 680 where benchmarks is showing the 7970 in lead.

Did you see the benchmarks? A point of doing a benchmark is too see how well it performs against other cards.

RAM virtual drives, aka Ramdisks, aren't exclusive to AMD technology. Which video card, or brand you have, is irrelevant:

That is before the new drivers, the old ones run fine. You seem to be most intrested in the 670, just go for it.
