I am about to order a new set of headphones tonight and was going to buy Audio Technica ATH-AD700 Open-air Dynamic Audiophile Headphones for $99.
Would anyone with experience suggest something else for gaming? The price can be higher as long as it is a better price/performance ratio ya know? I am not looking to spend crazy amounts. I guess $250ish would be the highest.
These will not be for music really because I like my music on speakers.
If you are using them solely for gaming, I'd suggest not going up too high in price as fidelity isn't a big concern.
The ATH-AD700 are probably the best pure-gaming headphones you can get in its price range. They have fantastic positional accuracy and great mids and highs, with the bonus of great comfort. They're not portable though and they won't shut any sound out (might be a concern if you're playing vidya somewhere with lots of background noise).
Google search for more info. Some call it a beyerdynamic DT 880 ripoff, which are $350 by the way but who cares if they're great quality and value, right?
