1K a week is just absolutely absurd, your able to hit that cap within half a day and then the rest of your valor for the whole week is essentially turned to dust.
Weird. It's almost like they want to slow the pace of gearing to keep people subbed between content patches and expansions. It's almost as though they are moving away from getting geared in 2 days and finish raiding in 1 week on purpose! Seems like a game based on subs should control the pace to keep subs active.

So your solution is to put obnoxious walls in place and continue to hand out wellfare valor? Im sure theres a better option than that.

And if they are needing to slow content to keep people subbed then thats an underlying problem thats only going to get worse.

The alternative solution is micropayment for content. Want a new raid lockout? That will be $0.75!

It's the same as putting the weekly raid lock. Otherwise, people would grind until their eyes bled and completely burn out. That is just bad business. It's also the same reason they don't release all raid tiers the day the expansion launches. Staggering content and progression is part of the game.

I'm sure there are other solutions. But just know that Blizz does not put those blocks in place to insult anyone, and you should not take it as such.

Blizzard knows that, and for the moment they are stalling. They had been bragging about having enough people to get content patches out every two to three months since WotLK, but since subs hadn't really been dying in WotLK there was no reason to actually put the man power into proper order. In Cata Blizzard attempted to ignore that they were hemorrhaging subs, in MoP they've accepted that they actually have to work for their subs, but even then the needed organization still isn't quite in place yet. So they're stalling. WotLK and Cata enabled quick gearing, by 3.2 you could get a new 80 geared up to be ready to raid in a few days. In Cata with the constant release of new 5-mans they changed that to pretty much just a single day. Maybe later this year or next year they'll have the organization and ability to do away with the current walls, but for the moment they need them up. Not to mention the current system keeps old raids within an expansion somewhat relevant, which was an issue they were constantly trying to address in Cata, "How do we keep old raids relevant once a new tier is release?"
What are you willing to sacrifice?

It's the way it started out. Deliver new content and keep people subbed. Only problem was that people with too much free time were getting geared in 6 hours and clearing the raid 2 weeks later. Then unsubbing and waiting for next patch became a thing. The only way to keep people subbed is to speed up content and slow down processes. This is why people hated BiS gear behind dailies. It is true you can get into heroics without ever doing a daily, but it still ticked people off. Personally, I like that they are trying to even out raiding by speeding up the content releases, slowing the gearing just a bit, and making it available to everyone (via the LFR). Pretty sure it is just the elitists in a rush who actually have the issues and the other 95% of players could care less

I thinki they should do the same thing they are doing with conquest points in 5.2 to valor.

So if you join today, your cap would bethe sumed caps from the 5.2 launch.

This might just be a viable option
