    Gaming comp build help continued...

Posted here a week ago or so and asked for help on a particular build for a new gaming comp. Well I recently came into $400 in Amazon gift cards. So I'm asking for help once again on a build that can possibly be made mostly of parts from Amazon so I can use my gift cards.

Budget - Around $600 total including the gifts cards. (So the $400 is included in the total price same as last request price wise)
Games/Settings Desired - Specifically for World of Warcraft High to Ultra settings
    Country - US
Do you need an OS? No
    Do you need peripherals? No

I sold my old comp to my sister so there aren't any parts that can be reused. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!!!

Slighty over budget, but worth it.

As for the GPU, you can pick it off from microcenter :

I have no clue if theres a microcenter near california, else you can pick this up:

I'm a little confused. You said you don't need an OS, but the old computer is being given away, which implies you DO need an OS. Did you already buy a new one?

But we have to go by the assumption that people do and if they don't that's their choice but not really to be debated on this forum.

Two ways you could go, here.

    PCPartPicker part list
    CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($129.99 @ Amazon)
    Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($84.99 @ Amazon)
    Memory: Patriot Viper 3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($49.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($56.72 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 2GB Video Card ($209.99 @ Microcenter)
Case: NZXT Source 210 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: Antec 450W ATX12V Power Supply ($37.65 @ Amazon)
    Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($19.97 @ Amazon)
    Total: $629.29

About 410 at Amazon, and 210 (GPU) at Microcenter.

    OR

    PCPartPicker part list
    CPU: Intel Core i5-3470 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($188.79 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI B75MA-E33 Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($59.99 @ Amazon)
    Memory: Patriot Viper 3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($49.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($56.72 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 2GB Video Card ($224.99 @ Amazon)
Case: NZXT Source 210 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: Antec 450W ATX12V Power Supply ($37.65 @ Amazon)
    Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($19.97 @ Amazon)
Total: $678.09 (Its actually $640, but couldnt select Microcenter's price)

About 490 from Amazon and 150 (CPU) at Microcenter

The i5-3470 scores notably better in WoW than the 6300. HOWEVER, I don't know how those stats stack up if the 6300 were overclocked. An OC'd 6300 may beat a 3470.

Basically my wife has a cousin who is helping me build the comp. He told me to get the parts and he would assemble everything for me. I asked him if he would help me with parts but all he did was link me a pre-made computer from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/CPU-Solutions-...3241194&sr=1-2 and said I would need I would need to buy a GPU separately. Well i would much rather come to these forums and get as much help as I can part wise.

That system would leave you with effectively no money (about 30 bucks) for a video card, so that option is pretty much out.

Unless he's willing to chip in for the video card after suggesting that :P

Yeah seemed quite a bit pricey for what I was looking for. I like your second build. I looked at the link and it said minor issues with the tower and motherboard about the usb ports. Is that a major issue? Perhaps a different case? Or will it be ok? I will pretty much be ordering that now as I have been without a comp for a few weeks now.

Just means you wont be using 3.0 usb (faster speed) in the front, just use the ones from the motherboard. No biggie at all.

The 2nd build he suggested will max WoW no problem with that CPU.

Ok so I have everything ready to be ordered from Amazon from that second build as I type this but the only problem is the memory it says currently unavailable. Any help? Preferably something that can be ordered form Amazon.

That system is pretty much what I have now (I have a stock 3570K and MSI 660) and it runs wow beautifully. I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

I know, but the question isn't even relevant anyway, as long as the OP, says he doesn't need it, he doesn't need it.. Like you said, and not only here, it's forbidden for illegal crap..

So answering with no wasn't even an option..

    Well, not necessarily.

If someone relies "No" to needing the OS in the questionnaire, that might just be a mistake. If they literally say "I don't need an OS" then thats different.

Might be a little late here since you say you've ordered, but Microcenter offers the FX 6300 at $119 with their $40 discount on Mobos:

    http://www.microcenter.com/site/prod...d_bundles.aspx

An MSI 970 Board will run you about $30-$35 and you can throw a 120g SSD into the mix:

    http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JFAl

Or just save $100 to spend with Amazon later on...Obviously the I5 is going to perform better in WoW, but you can save money, add an SSD, or invest in the greatest performance increase available to you in WoW - $100 spent on a gift for your wife!

Hey guys I have a little update on the build I was working on. I got all the parts in from the second build Chazus mentioned except the memory which I changed to the second link he mentioned the Crucial 8GB Kit DDR3. Anywho me and the cousin put the tower together and before we closed it up he set up a monitor to see if it booted up. Well we hit the power button and it turned on for about ten seconds or so and then powered off and continued to power on and off over and over. He troubleshooted every possible thing and ended up calling a friend who works for Geek Squad. He seemed to think it was the motherboard because of it not loading bios or something like that. Any one ever have that happen to them before? Luckily Amazons replacement policy is awesome and I will be replacing this possible faulty motherboard. Any help would be great! Thanks again guys.
