I'm sure they appreciate you thinking that about them.

Lots of men feel this way about black women. of all different races. Even there own race.

Someone might have said this already, but here is goes.
A few years ago a study was done on 5 or 6 year olds and asked them their preference when it came to dolls. First they asked little white boys and girls who they preferred, and found almost all of them thought the white dolls were the most beautiful. Then, the surprising thing happened. They then asked the black children on what doll they prefer, and found they they too believed the white dolls were most beautiful. The sad part, was they asked "Which doll looks most like you?" they pointed to the black doll, then asked "which one looks the best?" They pointed to the white dolls almost every time. If you prefer white girls, it's most likely you feel that way because of your culture and what your culture protrays to be beautiful. This study was done in America, I forget by who. Take Snow White, blood red lips, skin white as snow, hair as gold as gold itself. It is also possible that you have been resistant to this cultural indoctrination, but its highly highly unlikely. Now would I call it racism? I would say it is, but I wouldn't hold it against you considering I'm the same way.

I didn't twist your words, I just looked at it from the other perceptive. If black women have standards that are too high for you (Never knew high standards were a bad thing, btw) then the other side of the coin is that White/Asian women have lower standards. If Black women are too uppity/have too much attitude the flip side is that you perceive white/asian women to be more docile/less likely to argue. You can't have one side of the coin/stereotype without the other side, and since Asian women being docile perfect china dolls is a (awful sexist harmful) stereotype I fail to see why it shouldn't be acknowledged in this conversation as well.

And men can feel however they want about black women, white women, asian women, and latina women; it makes no difference to me. I'm also allowed to point out how believing stereotypes means they're adhering to racist cultural norms.

And yes, btw, I am black. And I am opinionated, firm in what I believe in, and I love to argue. You clearly wouldn't like me and I think it's better that way. I prefer a man with back bone, who's just as firm in his beliefs as me and likes to argue back; clearly you'd just sulk and accuse me of being an angry black woman.

It's not the media, it's a step above that.

In western culture, white is the colour associated with everything good. That's also why a wedding dress is white, it's what we perceive as pure.
Subconsciously this carries over for skin colour or hair colour. The lighter, the better.

I think so too, but the media definitely reinforces those beliefs. I definitely liked white girls more than anything else until I moved to NYC where I've since met a couple dark girls that I was really attracted to and it made me rethink my position. Had there been dark girls in the media, I might not have held that preference for as long as I did.

For instance, I discriminate against anyone who is fat and sees it as an immutable fact of their existence.
You could be fat, but you should hate it like me, because being fat blows. Anyone who can't figure out that being fit is better than being fat and that.
This is one of the most retarded things I've ever heard.

I suppose it counts as racist just the fact you're profiling them into categories. Most X, a lot of Y, based on skin color.

You should be judging these people one at a time, rather than making those generalizations.

I always used to think this too. I prefer light skinned girls like white, hispanic or Asian girls. I'm just in no way attracted to black girls. Depending on their personality they can make good friends though, I had one when I was in school. It's just in the area I live in, most black women and guys are so disrespectful so I hardly made any good black friends.

Not being attracted to a race is fine, but not being attracted to them because you stereotype their personality is

I guess I'm a racist that I don't get erect at the sight of black women. Are you people listening to yourselves.

Just pointing out while you may not mean it to, this comes off as being an angry black woman.....just saying.

    @Op

I don't think it was racism but just a prejudice you had based off of the limited number of black women you had met. Once you started to meet different types of black women your image of them changed and you found one that attracted you. Maybe you just worried that because you are starting to like this girl you may say something crazy racist and scare her off.

Racial preference in anyone become racist when you don't date them because you feel they are inferior. If you are not attracted to their skill color, hair, or features that is just a preference not racism. I know a lot of black women who, while thinking white men are attractive, would not date one because the believe most white men have a small penis.

Yeah you're definitely coming off as an angry black woman.

OT: Eh, so long as they fit the body type and personality that I look for in a woman, I don't really care what race she is. I will note that, I'm not fond of very dark girls. Milk chocolate maybe, caramel complexion definitely. Darker than me would probably be a no no, but I haven't met too many really good looking and well taken care of dark skinned girls in my area. But I don't see it as racist, some guys really love pale women...others love dark skinned ladies..some in between etc etc. It's really just a preference that men (and women) from all races and regions have, it has nothing to do with being racist.

I hate how anything nowadays is branded racist, people like that create a problem that doesn't exist. I don't like really black girls so, I'm racist? Whatever I guess.

    <.<

When will people understand that preference in skin color is not racist?

I don't think your prior preference was based on racism, otherwise you wouldn't find yourself falling for a black woman now.

Personally (being it may or may not apply to you) I have found that I have a physical "type" that I will find myself attracted too solely on the basis of looks. That said, a persona personality can override those preference for me fairly easily.

This thread is too similar to http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/...ity-background

And we don't really need two borderline threads on the same topic, so please use the above one.
