    Megaera Help!

We are banging our heads on this boss and can't really decipher what the issue is. Whenever we get to the 5-6th head obviously things get serious but man the amount of damage going out seems massive. We currently have one healer that is sub 495 (493) but can that really be the issue here?I normally go Affliction but heard great things about destruction for this fight so swapped just for this fight. We started by going G R G R B G R and decided to try out G R G R G R G and quickly went back to our original order. Any ideas? Also, it seems like our DPS is fine but sometimes we get 3 breaths and the tanks bitch to the end of time about it,...isn't this just a simple tank swap to fix? Some more gear from the first 4 bosses should help out but I don't want to feel like gear is the issue, I'd rather hear "person A is not performing to the best of his ability, he needs to be doing this...." as opposed to "gear up more."

First 25man kill for my guild we did Blue > Red x3 > Green
    Went down pretty easy

Doesn't the head go to the back once you kill it? How did you do 3 straight reds?

Going to look into logs further, and I'll update this post, but running 2 disc priests seems like its hurting you somewhat, at least in terms of tank healing if only because they're going to be stepping on each other's toes with weakened soul.

Ok, looked at the logs and I have to say a big part of your issue comes from running double-disc, although some of this is individual issues that could be improved.

1 - One of your priests simply stops using atonement about halfway through a few attempts. That means no more evangelism buff, and more importantly, no more healing buff from use of archangel.

2 - There's a significant difference in useage of power word: shield (9 from 1 priest vs. 23 from the other on attempt #11), which I'm guessing is because one of them is getting theirs up faster most of the time, and weakened soul is preventing the other from being quite as effective.

3 - Personal thing, but Bubblemebro is not getting much out of spirit shell, which should be a huge healing boost when its up. If you have to run 2 disc priests, have them stagger these and try to get the most out of it. Maybe have 1 use barrier and the other shell to get the healing buff onto the shell heals.

4 - you can get a lot more out of pain suppression. The attempt I'm using (#11), each priest used it only once.

The big take away here, while it is possible to run 2 disc priests successfully, I recommend having one of them use holy for this fight. The alternative is trying to coordinate their abilities better so they are not getting in each other's way, but that's going to involve a lot of work and more importantly, practice on their part.

We 4-healed it and just swapped heads on 2 stacks. Piece of absolute cake.

Granted we used the strategy where you don't kill any Blue (think it was Fatboss who said that) which means that the heads are always right next to each other. Might get some Megaera's Rage if you try to swap between Red and Green, not sure how much that hurts.

So for 4 heals you just have the tanks swap as soon as the 2nd breath is over?

Megaera's rage does not hit hard at all. Actuall possible to range tank the boss, but not benefitial.

I'd slightly change your kill order to G R G R B R G. That should lower poison bombs on the last head. Not sure when your popping bloodlust but we did it when we stacked on the last rampage to burn the last head down faster. We also stacked in between whichever two heads were up so melee could attack during rampage.

As for heals, two disc shouldn't be a problem for this fight. It's a waste to use both spirit shells during rampage though. You could make one group with tanks, your rogue and a disc priest that stays in range of them and he can spirit shell that group in the middle of phases to help with the poison bombs.

Looking closer at deaths shows your tanks dying from the dot the fire head does a few times. Make sure they pop cool downs when stacks get high. This might be a dps issue of taking too long to kill it though. The rogue should be able to dispel cinders off himself so let he can run to a safe spot for it and dispel himself. Range should spread out so they can be dispelled very quickly or even immediately if you trust them to be in safe positions for it ahead of time. Don't try to clear out fire patches with the frost beam though and run straight back if it targets you so you don't block the path to run for stacking on rampage.

Tanks swap to a different head after each rampage so they can clear stacks.

    Blue, Red, B, R, Green, B, R.

2 heal it if you've got 2 good healers or 3 heal it otherwise, with 4 healers you're just lengthening the fight and increasing the amount of aoe's to manage.
Have raid member drop/kite fire debuff or blue beam far from raid, when the place starts to get crowded have a guy with fire debuff dispell the blue aoe's left from the beams, warlocks are good for this as they've got a shitload of defensive cooldowns and can auto dispell themselves, otherwise anyone who's got good survivability.
If there's too many fire zones have a guy who's kiting the blue beam run over the fire zones to dispell them.
During rampage have everyone including tanks packed to simplify healing and make use of raid cooldowns.
    Bloodlust on last head. Profit

ok without going too much into the logs i can see you are 3 healing it. this boss isnt a dps race so its perfectly viable to 4 heal it, we killed it on sunday 4 healing. you kill the green head first then the red then just alternate between green and red having your dps ignore the blue entirely, as for tank switching it should be fine for your tanks to just switch after every head dies. so tank A starts on blue tank B starts on green, when green head dies tank A moves to red and tank B moves to blue.

how about going blue red a few times, killing too many green gets tough on healers.

If we do B R aren't we definitely going to have 3 breaths on the tanks? Having ppl kite the beam seems like it would definitely push a dangerous amount of breaths. Two pain supp's and an iron bark aren't really the best/most reliable external CD's. Definitely want to try that though,.....people are getting antzy on this boss lol

    Its Pretty simple

Go for Blue and Red with 3 Heals

    Follow this: B-R-B-R-G-B-R

For the Breath have Tanks use own Cooldowns and External stuff like Purify from paladins, Painsub etc

The reason behind this is simply that you have no Raiddamge except for Rampage and the Red Debuff.

Make 2 Marks on the spot between the bosses and set this at your rampage zone. If rampage starts, you gather here.

Out of ramapge make all Range-DD run at maxrange from the bosses and run into the back of the room with the Bluedebuff.

The reason behind this is that you want right in front of the bosses no voidzones.

Pull BL at 5 or 6 head, and Have your Tanks Rotate Cooldowns if Damage gets too Heavy. You should never have to switch Tanks before 6 head.

Let your Priests each take one tank to Heal and let the druid watch group + tanks. If Rampage starts, first Priest uses Spiritshell, then the next one. You can do this every Rampage.

We wiped at this boss a whole evening with killing green heads, next day we switched to Blue and Red and oneshoted him.

Blue Lines: This is where your range DD´s and heals run back with Bluedebuff
Yellow: There gathers your Raid for Rampage
Red: Tanks and Melees stand here.
Firedbuff is placed by the Blue voidzones.

Yup I'm thinking that we just do the above,...b r seems easy enough plus with little raid dmg a tank having to deal with 3 stacks isn't that big a deal.

    Hello.

We are also banging our heads on Megaera. It seems that cinders tick so hard towards end that healers doesn't have time to react either to dispell or to heal. Here's our logs (http://worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-cx2chq35wr3e4924/ and http://worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-c2aincmfvcb9dlui/). What is the problem?

  17. #17
Don't patronize your healers by 4 healing it. If they aren't good enough to 3 heal, work with them and fix it. The fight is actually 2 heal able if you have some decent raid CDs like hotw tranq etc, just like most other fights in the instance. Magaera is quite easy after the nerf, we did it "normally" the first week, but went back the second and tried not killing blue and it was cake.

2 disc healers isn't a problem on this fight in particular (though it may be on others) just have them each pick a tank.

With 3 healer's have 1 on each tank all fight, the other dispell/heal the cinder people. Stack in middle for rampage and cycle cd's. Hand of purity from paladins are great for the tanks on this fight, can 4 heal it especially since the recent HP nerf will make it alot easier.

  19. #19
We 3 healed it with one on dispells. Disc Priest, Resto Druid,OS Resto Shaman(me). We did the r,g,r.....till its dead strat. What it ended up taking was just very good healer cd usage and making sure you have just enough mana to make thru the last head. Took a few pulls but after a while we started letting ppl stay lower hp mid fight to heal more efficiently to keep our mana and one cd each for the end.
    do what you feel.
