[FAN EXPANSION CONCEPT] World of Warcraft: The Dark Titan

WORLD OF WARCRAFT: THE DARK TITAN

Somehow the Fallen Titan, Sargeras has retrieved his colossal body and has located Azeroth. With his lieutenants Archimonde and Kil’Jaeden slain, Sargeras has decided to launch his final assault himself, attempting to crush Azeroth with his bare hands. How can the heroes of Azeroth hope even to scratch this immortal enemy? The answer is simple. From the inside out.

I’m sure this expansion concept is one that has been proposed before, but I decided I’d give my own spin on it for what I think would be the only logical way Blizzard could include Sargeras in the game. Chronicle explained Titans as being the size of planets, with landscapes across their bodies. But here we explore the inner workings of a Titan.

This expansion will come a few after Legion, after we have defeated most of the Legion’s forces on Azeroth, Outland and Argus. During the pre-patch, Sargeras will appear as a feint silhouette floating in the skyboxes of every Azeroth zone. Throughout the expansion with each patch he will grow larger as he approaches until he dominates the skybox.

    The Zones:

    1 – The Exodar
The space-faring Draenei vessel is how the Alliance snuck up on Sargeras as he approached Azeroth. It’s where the Alliance questing experience starts and acts as the Alliance’s main city hub for the expansion.

2 – Stolen Legion Transport Ship
A Legion transport ship that the Horde hijacked. It is how the Horde snuck up on Sargeras as he approached Azeroth. It’s where the Horde questing experience starts and acts as the Horde’s main city hub for the expansion.

    3 / 4 – Right / Left Leg of Sargeras
To twin zones, similar but not the exact same. These are the first zones that players level through in the expansion inside of Sargeras’ legs. Players being to explore the inner physiology of a Titan. Each leg is a cavernous tunnel of living metal and stone that is infested with demons. Players discover that swarms of demons live within Sargeras himself as they lead the expeditions that fight their way towards his body and attempt to gain a foothold (no pun intended) inside the titan. These zones are narrow and long and follows a linear quest chain.

5 – Belly of the Beast
A giant continent that sits within Sargeras’ belly. Although it is inside like the legs, the “ceiling” is very high and spacious. The land is living stone and metal and is spotted with and surrounded by lakes of corrosive liquid – the bile of a hateful Titan. Once maintained by Titan constructs, this zone has been overrun by a parasitic species of alien insects called the Tik’atha that have infested the body of Sargeras. Destroyed and desecrated Titan technology litters the land. The Tik’atha are minute in scale with Sargeras and live inside his belly, living off the Titan himself without him knowing but are large in comparison to the mortal races of Azeroth. Most of the Tik’atha are hostile to players but there is a faction that the players ally with to help take down the Titan.

    6 – The Titan’s Wing
The Tik’atha take the players through a huge vein-like structure up into the chest of Sargeras. Here, huge and complex Titan constructs battle endlessly with demons of the Legion. The constructs were created by the Titans as a way of maintaining their inner-workings, and as a defence matrix from infection. Although the parasites have defeated them in the stomach, there are Titanforged who still fight in the chest, a last bastion attempting to stave off the demons who have overtaken the rest of the Titan’s body. While players team up with the Titanforged at first in order to clear the demons from the area, the players end up attempting to shut down Sargeras’ left wing from within which leads to the Titanforged turning on them as they still fight to keep Sargeras alive.

7 – The Chest of Sargeras
Finally, the last questing zone at launch takes players to the exterior of the Titan. Players fight across Sargeras’ chest, a firey and volcanic zone. Huge lakes and streams of lava cover the desolate and rocky land as giant volcanoes erupt constantly. Sargeras’ flaming mane can be seen on one of the horizons and Azeroth floats in the sky. Legions of demons and Tik’atha roam the skin of Sargeras that the players must fight off as they fight down their way down into the valley between his pectorals. Here, the players find a cave guarded by demon-corrupted Titanforged. A cave that leads into the Heart of Sargeras itself.

    (SOME OF) The Instances:

    8 – Sargeras’ Stomach
One of the launch 5-man dungeons of the expansion that the players come across when levelling through the Belly of the Beast. Players must navigate across small pieces of land floating on a lake of bubbling corrosive stomach acid as they fight all matters of alien creatures. This is where the beasts consumed by Sargeras from the numerous worlds invaded by the Legion reside. Players fight through a menagerie of powerful and strange creatures and kill the leader of the enemy Tik’atha as the final boss.

    9 – The Reaching Hand
The Reaching Hand is another launch 5-man dungeon. While levelling through The Titan’s Wing zone, players are teleported to the back of Sargeras’ hand. An external instance zone, players fight along the gauntlet and defeat the demons that defend it as they escort Titan constructs that have been infested and turned by their allied Tik’atha. The reappropriated Titanforge’s goals are to interface with and disable Sargeras’ colossal fingers before he can grasp Azeroth. All the while, Sargeras is attempting to shake players off (much in the same way as the Spine of Deathwing fight).

    10 – The Titanheart
After the events of the Chest of Sargeras zone, players make their way into the very heart of the Titan. This is the first raid instance that players will progress through at the expansions launch. Surprisingly, the Titanheart is an entirely pristine and untouched area of Titan technology. Even the parasites and demons know not to interfere with what keeps their host body running. Players fight their way through metal halls of immense magic that has been enhanced with Titan magic. They must defeat armies of Titanforged and their bosses in order to make their way to the Titan’s beating heart and destroy it in hopes that it will kill the Titan.

11 – The Mind of Madness
The second raid instance that players with progress through in the expansion after the Titanheart. When destroying Sargeras’ heart isn’t enough to stop him, the Tik’atha take players to his very brain. Sargeras’ brain is a labyrinth of insanity. An M.C. Escher-esque maze of impossible physiology and architecture. In this raid, players see into the memories of Sargeras. They are transported to planets that Sargeras and his legion destroyed where they fight twisted memories of the alien species that the Legion wiped out. Finally, for the last boss in the raid, Players fight an image of Sargeras himself as they attempt to destroy his very mind.

NOTE: This post is still a WIP

You know that, by the time we even remotely get to Sargeras, he's made Azeroth into a shish-kebab, right?

I like it being Sargeras as a continent scale compared to the rest of the demons we fought. But the question remains is how would this last a whole expansion? Think it would be awesome as you stated above where Alliance get Tempest Keep (that has been working since Burning Crusade or Cataclysm forget which one) and the Horde getting the fel protoss ship and Azeroth's soul or titan wakes up and it helps us battle Sargeras. Just my two cents. Leader of the Burning Legion needs an epic battle to end his story. But we would have to kill him on a place teeming with Fel magic so he would be permanently destroyed or else Blizzard's will wave their wand and poof hes back again.

This is one of the greatest things I've ever seen.

I've wondered what a Titan's body would be like ever since reading the Chronicle. The description of Sargeras' interior body sound awesome - I love the idea of the space parasites and that the Titans fill their bodies with constructs to maintain their inner workings - it makes total sense that they would do something like that. Breaks my heart to think of a handful of uncorrupted constructs surviving within Sargeras for umpteen millennia, trying to hold off the fel corruption.

You could make the premise work by saying that Sargeras moves at high speed through the Great Dark Beyond but needs to slow down when he's in a star system, so his arrival to Azeroth could take place over the course of weeks or even months. The starships are a clever way of getting to Sargeras before he's too close to Azeroth to stop. I would love a final conflict taking place inside him, attacking a giant fel-corrupted stone heart or brain.

While it's totally not feasible in real WoW, I love this idea.

How would gravity work and what not? Will being on his stomach be like climbing up a mountain or does your center of gravity change like a planet?

This wil never happen but tbh it would be freaking awesome But blizz would have to try and put an epic storylore inside of a body... not gonna happen Anyway, made my day

The bigger question here is: Will we venture into Uranus?

Thanks a lot bro. I love your concepts and wish I had the same level of visuals as you but I'm no where near as artistic.

It's a cool idea however, how would this go if there were expansions released after this one? Would we just constantly have a Sargeras around now? Would Sargeras only phase in when players are the appropriate level? What if you were max level of the next expansion but you wanted to go back to Sargeras to maybe farm mats for professions? It's really cool and possible but I feel like it would have to take place on another planet, not Azeroth, unless we use Bronze Dragon flight to "reverse time" to go back into Sargeras sort of how we can toggle between WoD portal and BC portal.

Yeah I really want to know how Blizzard will do the storyline when Sargeras reaches Azeroth. He cleaved planets and a fellow Titan in half. Like wtf, it feels like we will just sit and watch while Sargeras and the biggest Void Lord fights to the death and it will end when they kill each other.

I wouldn't actually want this but props for the crazy awesome idea. XD

This fan concept + spider kingdom are both miles better than the last 3 expansions we actually got.

You know how much Blizzard likes their poop quests. It'd definitely need to be mentioned somewhere.

Wouldn't want to be there when they reach under the belt!

Where is the entrance point? His ass? We fight through Sergeras' shit in his livers, make it to belly then go all the way up to his head!

I wouldn't play this expansion pack.
