because its ugly, and cluttered
I've always used default UI. I switch between bars (shift+number) like a boss and it shows me "all the info i need". Haters gonna hate.
(I don't like clutter either though, i don't use the option to show other bars onscreen, hence the switching)

i dont look down on them but i am amazed they can play on such a hideous interface without cringing
To OP: Standard UI is butt ugly, out dated, and annoying to look at. Besides it doesen't do anything I personally need...like seriously, it has nothing. I couldent play wow without addons.

Not saying you have to play at that level, but I am saying that for those that do, addons are required for more information. Plain and simple.
People who use only the default UI look down on people who use addons. People just like to be haters and always think their way is the ONLY way and anyone different is a loser.
If you use any addon that is ok by Blizz(UI) then I don't look down on you.

Default UI is fine to play with, especially if your computer can't handle a bunch of mods. I enjoy using default UI just because I can really. Sure, i've tried tons (and I mean tons) of mods. I just don't really care for it. Maybe reccount, or DMB, But I don't even PvE much...

I find it more impressive when people use the default UI.
Like watching Reckful play 2.4k+ arenas with the default UI and no trinket timers or DR timers is really impressive, whereas other people who I'm not going to name that play at 2.4k+ have Gladius showing them trinket timers, dispel timers, diminishing return timers, etc.
The default UI isn't particularly bad, but it does leave out some critical information. On the other hand, perhaps some of that information shouldn't be known. Perhaps people shouldn't be able to see the CD on other people's trinkets, but that's not what this debate is about.
I personally have a ton of addons to change how my game looks, but that's because I find the basic UI hideous. Not dysfunctional, but just plain ugly.
The once doing pvp in original ui isnt that mainly cause they are in some sort of event/game that doesnt allow addons and so on that impressions i have got.
Well anyway in pve that is my home, i wouldnt want to raid with someone that arent tracking important cd's for example but beside that original ui works well with some small modifications. Need a castbar addon for healers/range dps so u see the ticks and stuff and when to line up ure next spell. Since normal have been made harder during MoP I belive without a well worked ui you will not be able to progress very well atleast in 10man since u cant carry people in the same way as before.
I don't use a customized UI because I prefer the current UI's location of actionbars. I do however use addons like DBM, recount, moveanything and some more which add fun stuff for battle pets, make searching things easier like bagnon etc.
If there was an UI that 1) doesn't add any weird shade around the edges of my screen (ElvUI I believe, or TukUI, idk), 2) have their actionbars not be so incredibly miniscule and 3) doesn't add any unnecessary shiny stuff, I'd most likely use it.
If there is an addon that keeps the current blizzard UI, but only changes the skin of the actionbars and the grey theme, I'd gladly use it.
*If you want to criticize my english, Atleast post something usefull on the topic to*
I think the real question is, why do people care if some people look down on people that have the default UI? By saying what -they- think is more important than you or that -they- are right about some decision you are making and have chosen to make, well you are actually being a huge submissive bitch. Who cares what they think? If you believe you have made the right decision, are happy with the decision, if you are being looked down for this, then the problem does not lie with you. Could you please stop typing btw? This is fairly feeble topic btw, not worthy of discussion but you made me type. Ooph. I need to go to sleep now.
As far as default UI. It takes up too much room, doesn't show you everything you need, looks like poo, is harder to manage, and is less customizable in general. I stopped using it as soon as I started to take raiding seriously. As an example of my UI near when i quit:
Best i could find, but I think I was still in the middle of cleaning up and re-doing it. Most of the stuff that isn't bound to a key actually is but is sitting there so I can see the cooldown. The rest of it is a bunch of macros, either mouseover or otherwise, anything else not seen is bound to mouse buttons for ease of use with Grid. The real point though is in bar space alone I am saving well over 50% of my screen, not to mention having the options/logout menu hidden and buffs made far smaller and sorted out saving on room there. The minimap is slightly smaller saving room, and of course grid is far smaller and infinitely more helpful than default raid frames. The only thing I was missing in that UI that I had when I quit was a smaller profile for mana/health and some things moved around a bit for even more view. Overall it cut the space used by the default UI for the same thing easily by 60%.

I'm fine with the default UI, but my current and previous main toons have custom UI using a variety of addons like Razer Naga, Shadowed Unit Frames, SexyMap, TellMeWhen, etc. The rest of my alts are stuck with the default UI simply because I don't want to go through the trouble of customizing each of my toon's class UI and such unless they're at the level cap.
I also can't stand using preset UI like TukUI or ElvUI. I tried both of them for a few days and I don't like it in practice, although I've to admit by looking at screenshots of it looks really cool.
