Current normal vs. Heroic previous tier

    Hi,

Two months after the release of the expansion a couple of friends decided to start a new guild. After another few weeks of gearing a tank who was actually an alt, getting some more people in, sorting out healing, we finally got to raid. So we had a lot of catching up to do and we didn't really succeed. When the new raid was announced we were pretty excited, we wanted to get in there from day one and compete with the other guilds on the server. We raid three nights a week. We decided to do one night of ToT and spend the other two nights clearing the previous tier.
Jin'Rokh went down pretty easy. We had a couple of hours on Horridon who's obviously a bit harder to beat. This started a debate in the guild. Should we continue on Horridon or gear up through Heroic Raids first. Those three dogs (can't remember the name) in MSV are the only heroic boss we've done. Our average itemlevel is 495. I'm not sure heroics are easier, even with the 10% nerf. So i'd like to know the opinion of people who have actually done both.

    Thanks guys.

Average raid 495 means that people could still use 496's, so stick to a fast 5/6MV HC and 4/6 HoF HC, TES and the rest of the bosses on normal, on one night. The other 2 keep trying Horridon, you'll get it eventually. Council is cakewalk by comparison, since the HP adjustment.

We were in that position, went back to T14, farmed a bit more gear, got some VP and LFR gear and ofc Jinrokh gear and went back and got horridon down handily.

Horridon (and council) are overgearable fights. You really notice the extra few ilvl and it doesn't take much to get it. I think that in time jinrokh will seem the harder fight because people will still be able to fuck up and kill everyone.

    Good luck.

The chances are it's going to be more time efficient to go back and farm t14 for more gear, the heroics really shouldn't pose too much of a problem with the 10% nerf. Horridon is really just about having enough gear to keep up with the rate the adds spawn, so ideally you should give the gear to the dps also; healing shouldn't be an issue provided everyone executes the fight properly and remembers they have personal cooldowns.

But this is assuming they'll clear 8 new Heroic bosses and from T14 and be able to do them in one night every week. First of all, I doubt they'll be 1 shotting these bosses - even with 10% buff. When I doubt it, it's based on the fact, that everyone needs to learn the encounters and not many guilds 1 shot Heroic bosses they've never tried before.

That said, you're probably right - going back to T14 and do some of the easy bosses on Heroic, might not be a bad idea. But if people are capping their VP and making sure to at least do ToT LFR for rep and gear, then you should already have at least 2 ilvl 522 items by now. There's 496 items from both Dominance Offensive and Shado Pan as well, plus crafted 496 gear.

Ain't hard to get gear in WoW and if you put in the effort, you could easily gain a few ilvls.
