    Horrid FPS problems in Raids

Hey guys recently i rejoined the 25man raiding world and my computer is having a fit during boss encounters and i dont think it should be having any problems at all, normaly im sitting on about 100-110 FPS when in SW or 60-70 when on isle of thunder with high settings shadows sunshafts and SSAO set to low, but in raids with every thing turned to Low settings apart from Particle density set to good im going to about 14-19 FPS

Sounds like you are CPU limited in raids.
    Intel i5-3570K @ 4.7GHz | MSI Z77 Mpower | Noctua NH-D14 | Corsair Vengeance LP White 1.35V 8GB 1600MHz
    Gigabyte GTX 670 OC Windforce 3X @ 1372/7604MHz | Corsair Force GT 120GB | Silverstone Fortress FT02 | Corsair VX450

Try turn off addons, especially if you're using Recount switch it to Skada.

Your numbers are on the low side considering you're running at very low settings, but it's totally normal that somebody who has 100fps while doing daily quests will see FPS drop to 20s in 25man raids, especially with FX-4170 since AMD is struggling with MMORPGs.

Use an intel i5 or i7 processor and you will see better fps

Please explain why you would recommend an i7 for somebody playing WoW.

because all he knows is "intel is better"

the 4170 is fine, it's not as good as an i5 but its not bad

the in-combat framerate does seem a bit low, but since the hardware seems fine it is probably either a diver or addon issue

You could try overclocking the CPU a bit and see how it effects the performance in raids.

Also to add to CY's point, you need to know if it looks like its locking up choking etc or if its having wacky errors. CPU being choked is visibly different it smoothes out after a moment or 2 and goes in and out, continued consistent issue would be something different. 4170 Does 25m @ 25-38 FPS @ high settings not ultra but thats still very playable.

I second this OP, it really can give you a nice FPS boost.

is there any ways to see if it is choaking / locking up?

Max temp for 4170 is 61c, you need to sort that before you try any overclocking.

Overheat protection could be slowing you down at that point causing most of your problems.
