Foil can you share the rest of your specs?
i would also like to know this and what resolution you are playing at because there is no way that a 5850 would let you play on ultra at 60fps on a 1920x180 monitor

He is running on "Very high" as per his post, and the gpu is overclocked by 125mhz on the core and 200 mhz on memory.

The other parts are I5 2500 and 8GB ram. The HD 5850 is a bit old now but still does ok, there are plenty vids on youtube of 7770 running 40-60 fps on v high while frapsing and the HD 5850 is maybe 20-30% faster again.

Even the next gen 6850/6870 was a weaker card than the HD 58xx series and only now has AMD started to make decent improvements again.

What you seem to be forgetting is that the 5000 series and the ones before only went to x8xx as the fastest card where as in 6000 and later on AMD changed their naming scheme and started using x9xx for single GPU cards as well.
The correct comparison from a 5850 would be a 6950 which is in fact a stronger card.

    You're better off with a gtx 660 than a 7870 it's just much faster.

    Newest benchmark

    http://www.kitguru.net/components/gr...march-2013/20/

Been looking everywhere for a benchmark that compared 7xxx / 6xx cards at their newest drivers. Read through and make your decision OP.
    8700K (5GHz) - Z370 M5 - Mugen 5 - 16GB Tridentz 3200MHz - GTX 1070Ti Strix - NZXT S340E - Dell 24' 1440p (165Hz)

Sadly that isn't the latest Nvidia driver(might be a typo) and the choice of games is pretty bad.

True, but only thing I see improved in the newer Nvidia drivers are sleeping dogs of the games in the list? But it's the most recent.

Nevermind, only thing 314.22 did change is the Bioshock Infinite boost.

Yes but 3 out of the 5 games they tested are heavily AMD favored. It is like doing a comparison and only including Blizzard games :P

Thats true But atleast theres couple other benchmarks like the 3dmark and Ungine, not the most precise to monitor gaming performance in other games but should tell you where they stand overall.

Who cares if a 7870 wins with a few frames only.. Sorry but FPS comparisons are getting old and useless. Currently the 660 wins everywhere rendering with less delay than a 7870 this is just where you should look at instead of buying a card with a few more frames and playing stutterish.

Your slightly overreacting mate, there is no noticeable stuttering with the 78xx cards
I didn't notice the OP already made up his mind.. Hehe.
