WoW has some AMAZING soundtracks!
in my very own opinion wotlk had the best and most immersive soundtrack in the game.

Wrath of the lich king, closely followed by Mists of Pandaria for me.

The best music from WotLK is simply a reuse of the music of WC3:TFT. The music that plays during the Lich King's defeat is the same as when he first ascends the throne. It's good, but that doesn't mean WotLK should take the credit imo.

I really love the vanilla login screen music though. It had that sense of mystery and exploration to it that the expansions lack.

Wrath by far. Because it's just amazing.

If we're ranking them all? Wrath >>>>>>>> Vanilla > TBC > Cataclysm > MoP. The first three were all solid soundtracks. The last two, like the expansions themselves, have been very hit-or-miss for me.

Mists of Pandaria has the best music of all the expansions! burning crusade/wrath and cata had also some very good pieces. i love all the music in wow.

Wrath of the Lich King, its not even a contest. Pretty much everywhere I go in that place, awesome music pops up. Especially Storm Peaks.

In order:

1. Wrath of the Lich King
2. Classic
3. The Burning Crusade
4. Mists of Pandaria
5. Cataclysm

What Wrath? it had crappy music(There were few good ones but most of them were just mediocore at best, not to mention complete trash like Borean Tundra) just after Panda.

Cata had the best soundtracks. People are too obsessed with Cata-bash bandwagon although the music was really great

MoP has the best overall music. I don't think it actually has a single really bad track in it. Lots of booming, orchestral-ish pieces.

WotLK is very close. It has the best single tracks in the entire game's history. (Also, has anyone ever noticed that the music in Dalaran sounds like a Holophone from Futurama?)

I can't think of much distinct about the other expansions, really. I really, really, really don't like some of the music in the old world, and my brain is foggy if it's always been that way, or changed with Cata. Whichever it is, I really hate the stuff that's got the dumb grunts and crap in them.

I wish there were more tracks in WoW that had a defined tune such as Grizzly Hills and fewer background type pieces. Mind you, they can be great to set the mood and vibe.
