    Looking a 2560x1440 monitor - possible for under $300-400?

Is it even possible to get a decent 2560x1440 monitor for under $300-400?

How much are the Yamakasi Catleaps or after taxes, shipping would it be way higher or what.

Was looking at http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+23%...&skuId=7979101 - I just really want something higher than 1920x1080.

Monitors filtered by the screen resolution you specified. Cheapest one they have on Newegg starts off at $639.99. Might be cheaper just to hook your tv up to your computer and play on that.

    Heard of this brand? http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-ACHIEVA-...90645588882%26

I'm just not sure about ordering from Korea though. I do want that sexy 2560x1440 though for $350.

Never heard of it and by the looks of it (shipping) its out of Korea. So definitely not a brand that would be very familiar in the states nor would there be any real customer service available if something ever went wrong with it.

This is what I play on: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824236302

Its not the resolution you wanted but it is one hell of a monitor with a great picture and its by ASUS and comes with a 3 year warranty instead of 1 year like LG. Don't get me wrong I had an LG monitor before I upgraded to the ASUS and it was a great looking monitor as well.

I like ASUS, but that one isn't an IPS display at least I couldn't see it labeled as IPS anywhere.

As Desor linked this monitor uses the same LG panel like the Apple monitors or various other 27" 1440p monitors. Build quality isn't that great, it offers only DVI and nothing else and you don't have any kind of buttons to change the colors and all except brightness so you're stuck with the factory calibration (which is in most cases not so bad). If the only thing you want is 1440p and nothing else, than this monitor is good enough. It's so cheap because you're only paying for the display and some cheap plastic casing and so on which costs close to nothing.

One of the good things of this monitor however is that it has no glass or other kind of protecting layers that very often cause a glitter effect. The only brand on the market that has no glitter effect is Samsung but a lot of people don't see the effect or don't care about it.

One question OP, why do you need that high resolution when most things aren't made for that resolution yet?

Because I want one it lol. But seriously though I like having a larger resolution for web dev, etc. I'm just weary about buying it from eBay for some reason.

You will have problems running 1440p with only a GTX 560.

Right now, I doubt it, at least nothing with any semblance of quality. Doubling that is still in the "meh" territory.

I guess you're referring primarily to front-end design work, in which case I think you really shouldn't be looking for bottom of the barrel monitors.

No, coding. I can't design for shit :P.

But it looks like my one gtx560 isn't going to be able to cut it so may have to just go with a 1920x1080/1200.

Probably going to have the same quality as the Korean screens, but it's stateside and comes with a semblance of a warranty. So huzzah?
